Hello Simmers!

I Need some help here.

I´m trying to use the radar range-angle method as described in the manual.

If Your fighter is an altittude of 5km and awacs reports a target at range 80km and altitude 10 km you should......

That´s the point...awacs only tells contacts "high" or "low" but never an exact altitude in numbers.....so we got to guess by moving the radar down or up untill we make contact.

I´m wright or wrong?

I would set the HUD range scale to say 100Km. Place the TDC cursor at the called range (80Km). Then set the Range value (bottom of the HUD) to 80Km. Then set the Delta H value to +5.

Yes, the AWACS will not give you exact height of bandit so you set the expected range and start slewing the radar to the approximate altitude difference. Ivank described it perfectly if you do know the exact alt.

The AWACS may give only low, med and high for alts, but online a wingman can give you the exact height if he/she picks up on a bandit first.

Different fighter communities may define low, medium, and high differently. But generally the low altitude block runs from 0-11,999 feet. The medium altitude block runs from 12,000-19,999 feet. And the high block is 20,000 feet and above.

So you do have a general idea of where to set your scan height.

Take a look here:

Along with some other good info, you will find the altitude rangers for the various AWACS calls (Very high, High, Medium, etc.)

Yes Rich, but I cant´t remember where did I see that takes up to five seconds in the game to get the radar to show the contacts...(Really can´t remember....maybe the manual)

so if I could put the exact diferential altitude there´s no need to waist time (one thing that i´ve learned for sure in this game is when something happens.......happens really fast)
