The LT Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 First: so far, it seems the devs have nailed most of the crashes and I have yet to see a single crash on 2.7.1. Now, I've discovered something though: I had to reload my uefi bios profile due to some configuration changes and I noticed my previously configured overclocking settings which were stable for 2.5.x did not work out for me on 2.7.x with random CTDs not accompanied by "game crashed" dcs dialogbox. Funnily enough, my system passed every single stress test with no lockups (occt, xtu, aida, even prime95). I had to up the core voltages a bit (about +0.020-25) to stabilize the system in DCS. Whatever the devs optimized in 2.7.x obviously made DCS more sensitive to OC. TL:DR: Make sure you dial down on your OC if you're crashing even if your system plays everything else just fine and passes stress tests with flying colors. Just my 2 cents. 1 1 My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
Flappie Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Thanks for your feedback. You're right, DCS is more sensitive to undervolting than it was before: I've already helped 3 people with the same issue. ---
XPACT Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 DCS isn't really CPU demanding, single core usage somewhat but overall CPU utilization will be low. My bet is that you use adaptive voltage in your OC meaning you have all power savings active which is very hard to get right and "stable". I saw numerous PCs get through rigorous testing with linpack and prime95 just to crash on the desktop while moving mouse due to voltage dips/transients caused by power saving features. 1

Funny thing is, DCS was the only app with issues. I've since upgraded to 10900X from 7900X and it has a much better power state management, I've been able to dial it down to lower core voltages and DCS is running fine.
