Hi,

At the moment I have no trackir.... and while I acquire one, I wanted to ask if there is any possibility of assigning camera positions to keys, so as not to have to use the controls to move the head, which is quite imprecise .. ..

In such a way, that I adjust the camera to a certain area of the cabin, and assign it to a key (numeric keyboard), so I can quickly and precisely change the instrument or area of the cabin that I want to operate.

Can this be done?

Assign (cockpit) custom camera positions to a certain key?

Yes, you can, and they are called snap views. Here's a short tutorial to help customize them. Don't forget to enable snap view saving, otherwise your custom snap views won't be recorded once you exit your mission.

for fine tuning camera position, think you can move it, with mouse....

if i use mouse, i move pointer... there is some key/combination key, that let me move camera with mouse?

near... but no

Can I make the camera stay on those SNAPS VIEWS?
Because when I release the button that I have assigned to that SNAP VIEW, it returns to the previous position ... and I don't want that.

I would like that when I press a button, the Hotas, the view changes permanently

Use RCtrl+RShift+Numpad 1-2-3-4-6-7-8-9 to move your head in different directions.

A simple way to stay on a snap view is to associate it to a switch, like this:

I think I might know what @peirof has in mind...

One may call it "a problem", but I don't. Trouble is that PC keybords have too few keys for DCS, piano keyboards would be better, but some people have too small rooms to fit a piano for DCS. That is the true problem - more people should have pianos! 😉

The snap views become persistent only after you rCtrl-Num_0 first (and another rCtrl-Num_0 turns this "persistent mode" off).

Personally I deal with it by means of macros in Joystick Gremlin.
When I press a button on my HOTAS (typically I use "radio hat" on my TM Hawg throttle), it presses the following keys:

Press rCtrl
Press Num_0
Release Num_0
Release rCtrl
Press Num_X (where X the number of my snap view)
Release Num_X

The snap view persists until I press the button again (this exact button or another "persistent snap view" button - for some planes I have 2 or 3 of them).

Yes, it's a little bit of work to have it all arranged like this and yes - you do need external software for that (I use Joystick Gremlin + vJoy, though I'm sure one can use any similar software, there are quite a few out there).

Also... please note that you DON'T need such views in all cases. You may want such a view to interact with a specific control (knob/switch) with a mouse. In such cases, I guess, you need this "persistent mode". But if a specific view is only meant for you to have a glimpse at some instrument (to read its indication) etc. - these can be momentary, so no such macros are required for them.

PS. In reality I don't have such complex macros as above - I assign bare Num_0 to have the same funtcion as rCtrl-Num_0, so it's a bit quicker for me to set up these macros - but it's not mandatory, it's just my way of doing it.

EDIT: Sorry, just in case - I know piano keyboards have fewer keys than PC keyboards. It was just a groaner joke 🙂
