Azdack Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Hello Just bought the Bf 109K. Any Idea if it is possible to remove the armor plate into th Bf109K cockpit? Thanks for answers.
Art-J Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 No it isn't possible. The only selectable Item in the cockpit (via mission editor) is the flare gun. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
LeCuvier Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Removing the armor plate would require a change in the damage model as the likelihood of the pilot being killed would be much higher. Anecdote: At the beginning of the war the Bf-109 did not have the armor plate, but Galland's mechanic added one to his fighter. Galland coming back from a mission complained about the unauthorized addition and wanted it removed. But the mechanic showed him the bullet impacts in the rear of the armor plate, and Galland was very happy to keep it. 1 LeCuvier Windows 10 Pro 64Bit | i7-4790 CPU |16 GB RAM|SSD System Disk|SSD Gaming Disk| MSI GTX-1080 Gaming 8 GB| Acer XB270HU | TM Warthog HOTAS | VKB Gladiator Pro | MongoosT-50 | MFG Crosswind Pedals | TrackIR 5
Azdack Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 Thanks for answers. Without the flaire gun it will be easier tu switch on all fuses on the right side. Yes LeCuvier , a good shield but maybe without the armor plate Galland would have seen the bandit coming on his six and shoot him dow so far...unless it was a shrapnel from an AAA bullet...Anyway thanks for the information and I will manage flying with all that steel over my head.
Ala13_ManOWar Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Erla haube's Glass armour in the K4 isn't visually obstructive at all compared to earlier whole steel armours. You can see your 6 o'clock "pretty good" in K4 as opposed to those. Pretty easy to live with it instead of die without it . P.S.: if that story is true, Galland would be dead. Period. BTW the glass armour in Erla haube was his idea, or so say the myth. S! "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war.
