It would nice to have the controls for the front seat be completely separate from the rear seat like in the F14 so I can use the same buttons for each seat to do different functions.

It isnt good idea, for example I use the same joystick for Sthurm systems what is the best method for me for tracking target. Normally, the pilot operator must also assemble everything for the control (even rudder pedals), the operator also has very limited instruments. If you want to control, jump to the commander pilot's position.. What is it now its ok for me but I need more precise in maneuvers (and without crashing the copter) Petrovich or in MP a friend 🤣 .

All the controls could still be available, as well as having a separate control set per seat like the F-14. Then the user can bind the controls whichever way works best for them. Personally, I would have mine setup with separate controls per seat.

The controls are a bit of a mess right now but hopefully they tidy it up.

 

And while they're at it, I hope they stop axes defaulting across all controllers.  I struggle for find a scenario where I'd wish to control my pitch simultaneously with my rudder, throttle and joystick ...

IMHO each cockpit should be separated bindings group that you can't operate from the another. So example to use the master arm switch in the operator cockpit you need to be in that one, you can't be sitting in the pilot cockpit and just press button. 

 

The sight has already a automatic switching when the cyclic is stoved away, and you enter to the sight. So you can have sight controls as in your joystick X and Y axis when looking through sight, and when you pull cyclic out you would be flying with it. Then when you swap to pilot cockpit your joystick X and Y is controlling pilot cyclic.
