I was tracking a target visually at about 3NM and 10 degrees off bore.  Fired an AIM-7 and never lost radar lock.  The missile literally went almost 1NM in front of target and smoke trail was in front of him.  That's how close I was.  I still killed him with an AIM9, but that's bad.

You need to provide a track.   Although at 3nm the missile should theoretically hit, you're very close to head-on Rmin (inside of it at some closures) and you have pretty much provided none of the information that matters.
