OpticFlow Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Generate performance charts (or at least the data series in a convenient format) from the in-game flight characteristics of the player controlled aircraft so that we can compare them with each other and know their relative strengths and weaknesses in flight. For example: Sustained turn rate and radius vs. speed Max. climb rate at given altitude vs. speed Speed range vs. altitude Acceleration in level flight vs. speed Fuel consumption rate vs. speed 2
Nealius Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Good intentions, but will open pandora's box in terms of "x module's performance is not realistic" threads.
Harker Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Good intentions, but will open pandora's box in terms of "x module's performance is not realistic" threads. Well, it should, if the FM isn't good enough and needs to be improved. It'd solve more problems than it'd create though, namely the multitude of threads that go "I feel like this isn't right" or "did they nerf the turn rate on the last patch"? People are already competing DCS flight characteristics to the real thing one way or another, might as well be able to do it properly. 1 The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Nealius Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 It should, but it has always turned into arguments, locked threads, and deleted threads. Rarely has it actually improved things until much further down the line after persistent pestering (see: A-10 performance issues).
Cepheus76 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I support the OP's request. Proper documentation should be, in my opinion part, part of a high fidelity module, to allow those who wish to, to plan their missions properly. So even some simple climb, cruise, and descent charts would be highly welcomed, at least by me I see the point that it will cause sooner or later bickering in the forums, but I think that this can be handled like all other performance related discussion. After all, the charts would be eventually just visualizations of what people are experiencing in the sim anyway.
einarabelc5 Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 There are some charts out there in the wild already. Here's a great explanation: From game design, this has been done in RPGs for a very very long time. It's just part of a plane's stats. So what's the big deal? 1
vgilsoler Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Or at least a way to export/review/compare the used data in game. I5 12600KF - 32 GB DDR4 - Nvidia RTX 4060 - SSD + NVME Nadie es un completo inutil, por lo menos sirve de mal ejemplo.
