I was watching the producers notes and I noticed there does not appear to be an option to bring the ABRIS up full screen. Is that true?If so, as sophisticated as it looks it is pretty useless if you can't read the screen. If you don't use Track IR what other option is there.

I'm not 100% certain on this but I'm sure there is a quick key for various closeups in the cockpit. So on the numberpad lets say you hit 7 it'll give you a close up of the instruments in the lower right side of cockpit.

It's tracker IR enhanced, if you don't have it, you won't be missing features of the game I'm sure.

Beta testers may have a better idea cause the, unlike me have played the sim ;)

In my personal opinion, a trackir is a must-have. It goes right up there with a HOTAS joystick. And trackir has dropped their prices a lot, you guys should get one. Especially in the Ka-50, since it has a lot of blind spots, you need to use the 6d0f feature to look around.

I have a TrackIR 4 and just bought a Trackclip Pro. I agree it is a must. In Lock on or IL2 it makes such a big difference.

As far as a zoom key goes I've looked over the Key assignments posted here and don't seem to see one. Even with TrackIR a zoom key would certainly make it easier. especially at higher monitor resolutions.

Is the TrackClip Pro nothing more than the reflective frame and a boom mic combined into one so you don't have to wear the hat, or does it do anything a bit more clever?

TrackClip Pro is an attachment for your existing headset (assuming it is of a suitable type - see the NaturalPoint website). It isn't a passive reflector like the hat mounted thing - instead it has 3 IR LEDs which emit light for the TrackIR sensor meaning the TrackIR does not blast you with IR light to reflect.

The main reason for using it is to extend the view field of the TrackIR and thereby increase reliability of tracking. What I mean is that when you have the baseball cap on and move your head around, the TrackIR needs to be able to see the reflected dots. If you tilt your head up a long way for example, the cap's peak masks the reflectors and so you lose tracking at that point. Since the TrackClip emits light and has nothing to get masked by it is more reliable at the extremes of tracking.

It depends on where your TrackIR is mounted and how you like to move as to how much of a difference you'll see (besides not needing to wear a cap). Downside is that to power the lights you have a USB pass through + cable so an additional cable is attached to your head.

The question is whether that extra reliability is worth it for the extra cost...

Like ryuzu said. It makes a world of difference in the field of view. My computer is near the TV so with the hat If I turned around to look at the TV and turned back I would have to re-center the TrackIR everytime. Now, with the Trackclip If I turn around and turn back I don't have to re-center. It only cost $34.95 If you already have a TrackIR and is another outstanding improvement to an outstanding product.

Does it require an additional USB slot to power the headset mounted tracker IR? I have almost all my USB slots used up and currently have the regular hat mounted module...I hate having to wear a hat when playing Sim's so having the Pro would be great.

34 dollars to whipe out hat head forever...i'm IN! ;)

No you don't need an extra USB port. The cable that comes attached to the Trackclip has a Y connector so you plug the TRACKIR unit into it and then one plug into the PC. The thing is, it only clips onto headphones that go over the top of your head. Does not work with behind the ear style. I had to go out and buy headphones (added expense) but they are actually better then what I was using.

Here's a link where i bought mine:

Here's the Natural Point link to it:

Thanks Mxyzpylk!

That first site doesn't ship to Canada it looks like and Tracker IR store is charging me $48 to ship from USA to Canada (ridiculous). I'll have to see if I can find a better shipping deal. Ebay perhaps!

Thanks mate for the info!!
