What all out there is there to upgrade the internals for this thing?

 

I've got a pretty standard Cougar, but have installed the Vipergear MLU for the throttle.  What kind of gimbal upgrades are out there aside from the FSSB R3 (for that price, I'd just wait for Winwing to... someday... come out with their F16 hotas).  I believe @rel4y may have some microsticks?  

 

Is the TUSBA something needed if I'm keeping the stick?  

 

Anything else I should know about to get this thing working tip-top?

Have you checked rel4y's thread?
I have converted my throttle to USB and hall sensor with rel4y's upgrade. Very happy, no need for the TUSBA! I'm not gonna bother doing it with the stick or fixing the gimble, on any of them, I have three sets now, but I'm waiting on rel4y to finish and sell his force upgrade for them. Only other option for me would be the FSSB, as I want a force sense stick for the Viper.
You could go with a Virpil base though.
rel4y also has microsticks, though I'm happy with mine, and ANT and RNG sensor upgrades.

Gimbal wise i guess you're out of options since as far as i know all buyable gimbal upgrades (U2Next, Evenstrain etc...) are discontinued already a long time ago.

Maybe if you're lucky, you find something 2nd hand.
