Sangwiches Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Hello I am new to DCS world so I hope this question doesn't sound stupid. My DCS recently took an update and I think I now have 2.7 but I don't notice a difference in the clouds. I am running the game in VR through steam. When my DCS login screen comes up it says I have version 2.7.3 but game play looks like the previous version 2.5. Does the steam version automatically update when the DCS version does? I attempted to launch DCS without using steam but even if I disconnect my VR steam still launches so I'm Not sure which version launched. I have an NVIDIA 2080. Any help would be appreciated since DCS support is difficult to get a hold of.
Flappie Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Chances are you already don't remember how clouds used to look in DCS 2.5. The version number indicated at the right bottom of the main menu is always right. If it says you're running 2.7.3, then you are. ---
Sangwiches Posted July 24, 2021 Author Posted July 24, 2021 That's possible but I see a difference when I watch you tube videos as opposed to when I play. Thanks for the input.
Euan Emblin Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 The videos that you watch have probably not been filmed through the VR lens. What you see in VR is not the same as what you would have seen on a monitor and I very much doubt if you can run DCS in VR at the same quality settings as you would in 2D. - 'The Dog's Rollocks' - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] is a water cooled behemoth : i9 9900K@5GHz/RTX 2080Ti/32 Gb 3600MHz RAM/M.2 NVMe onboard drives/System driving Pimax 5K Plus/TM Warthog/MFG Crosswind/Gametrix Jetseat
Jenson Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 if you checked "Enable VR Headset" box in the VR option, the game will always launch in VR mode even if you disconnect your VR headset from your PC.
