Very confusing. Can you fly it again and see it it occurs again. It must be an AI issue. Just trying to see how often it is happening and why. The only reason I can think is fuel. This is better than a track as they do not always work when quite large. As I have said flew it myself today all ok. However noted you have changed the load out . Noticed you are using AIM120s not has per the mission loadout where you only get one.. This makes the mission much easier and you will knock the enemy aircraft out quicker. Can you try it again please but use the correct mission loadout. I am checking the script to see if the timing of things could have had an impact. Also please send the Tacview also which is most helpful. Thanks Badger633 I've flown this mission 9 times now, without succeeding. F5:s get me every time. I'm not going to fly it with Sidewinders only, sorry. However, this last time I flew, I didn't shoot the F5:s on the right. They started chasing my wingman towards the mainland, and then I shot them. This time he didn't fly toward the western island. He ran out of fuel and crashed though, so I wasn't able to finish the mission this time either. Now I'm going to bed. Thanks for helping! And thanks for a great campaign, although I'm a little frustrated with it right now! Tacview-20211104-000821-DCS.zip.acmi
Steel Jaw Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Good campaign but, like the others, weapons load is often non nonsensical, even in Raven1...there's just no way Im going to fly in hostile airspace with out a proper loadout for A2A options, so, only heaters? Nope. Gonna bring at least 2 Slammers every time, no matter the mission. Obviously recent DCS updates have changed AI behaviour which has changed how 410 is reacting. Trouble is it is not consistent, which is the hardest to deal with. In this last Tacview you sent, 410 has decided he is not going to engage the enemy aircraft at all! In your previous he went to the island and in my flight all went well. Will have to unpick this now to get a fix on a mission that has been working well up to now. It's the problem with producing a campaign script for a Sim which is always changing. Missions will inevitably break every now and then. Still, keeps me busy I know you have flown this mission too many times but if you cold find time to try mission 8 in the normal version and send a Tacview that would be much appreciated. Understand your comments on the load out but it has been selected to give the right amount of difficulty set against the opposing aircraft and their weapons. As you have said this is the "Added Difficulty Version". The normal version only gives the opposing aircraft rear homing weapons so much easier to defeat them. Also the intention of this part of the mission is to get the pilot involved in a more close and personal fight with an emphasis on flying skills rather than a total BVR experience. Thanks for your help, will let you know when I get it sorted. As I responded to Sharkku above the load outs are intentionally selected to put the pilot in certain situations which is balanced with the opposing aircraft and their load outs. Its about trying to get the right amount of difficulty. Hard to get this balance beings the ability of DCS pilots varies so much. In this mission you have one AIM120 and the rest heaters, this means the pilot is forced to make a closer engagement rather than a full BVR which puts more demands on his flying skills. So load outs are not always to capture reality but put the player in situations where load outs are not ideal. Of course the end of the day its up to you and the most important thing is you enjoy the campaign after all that's what's its all about. Cheers Badger633 Great! I think the main difference was that I didn't engage all of the F5:s at first, just the ones on the left. This gave Wave some room to engage the other two, and after that he behaved as he should.

In recent times DCS has given AI the ability to decide not to attack based on factors which are not totally clear. You can inhibit this now which I have done. Once I have completed the fix I will test it on the basis of 110 hitting all four first. ClydeBigBird Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Finished the campaign last night. Overall I really enjoyed it! I encountered no other issues after Mission 8, and all AAR worked for me as expected from that point on. There are a lot of great missions when you really get into the meat of this campaign. Lots of memorable moments too, like Spoiler flying in under the radar as dawn breaks in Mission 9, seeing all of the explosions/AA fire fill the night sky in the final mission, and bursting through the clouds to the moonlit sky also in the final mission. Story wise I thought it was pretty good, and the briefing documents were really well written. I had kind of hoped for one more twist from The Lion, but overall the story progression was good and felt realistic. I really liked how you get to employ a wide variety of the F/A-18C's armaments. I could have hoped for perhaps one BVR engagement with several AMRAAMS at my disposal thrown in their somewhere, but within the context of the story and the enemy force's available units, I can see why it wouldn't have made much sense. Maybe some of those MiG-29s could have ended up airborne in a prior mission before blowing them up on the ground. Overall great job Badger! Looking forward to your future work!
ClydeBigBird Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Oh yeah another thing I wanted to point out is that the inclusion of the tips in the briefing was a really good idea, and something I'd like to see other campaign creators do as well. The briefings in this campaign are just about perfect. They are the perfect length, they are well written, they do a good job setting the atmosphere for the mission, and they make it very clear what you need to do to pass the mission.

Hi Thanks very much for your kind words. I work really hard to produce an enjoyable and immersive set of missions. Really glad you have picked up on a few moments which were certainly not by accident but carefully planned. I like to get the lighting just right as much as possible to enhance the mission. Am working on improvements all the time and fix any issues as they occur. Not working on anything at the moment but maybe the Persian Lion may yet still have a twist up its sleeve Edited November 6, 2021 by Badger633 F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.
ClydeBigBird Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Yeah I can really tell you put a lot of effort into getting the atmospherics just right. I picked up Serpent's Head 2 last weekend and have noticed a lot of cool aesthetic moments with that one too, like in Mission 5 the juxtaposition between floating at angels 40 and being blasted with rain below the clouds. Great stuff! 1
