DHesquire Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 I'm used to doing my civvy flying with an iPad-based (other tablets are available) moving map, and since doing so have also got my DCS kneeboards on there too (shoutout to my personal favourite kneeboard solutions by @Minsky and @pokeraccio - awesome layouts and concise info!). These are only as JPEGs on my OneDrive, but it always gets me wondering about the viability of a proper companion app for DCS. Kind of like merging CombatFlite with the built in kneeboards, the F10 map, and/or maybe being able to output an MFD/HUD of your choosing. Anyone who's used Garmin Pilot, as an example, should get the vague idea of what I'm on about (moving map, synthetic vision, checklists, planning features, TCAS/ADS-B input). Not sure if this is the right place for the topic so feel free to move, but interested in people's thoughts. Might even have a bash myself although mobile apps aren't my forte (I despise code work!) 3 System Monitor: RoG SWIFT PG349Q | Case: Cooler Master HAF X | Mobo: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme | CPU: Intel Core i7-3970X | RAM: 16GB Corsair CMT8GX3M2B2133C9 | GPU: RoG STRIX GeForce 1080Ti | SSD: Crucial MX500 500GB | HDD: 2x 1TB WD 10k Velociraptor (RAID0) Modules DCS World: | BS2 | A10C | CA | UH1 | Mi8 | FC3 | HT1 | L39 | SA342 | F5E | M2K | NTTR | AJS37 | AV8B | F18 | PG | C101 | F16 | SC | A4E | MB339 | Falcon 4: BMS | FSX:SE
Baltic Pirate Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Interestingly I was thinking about the same earlier today. F10 map would be brilliant on a tablet. However, I am pretty much only flying on VR when at home, so any companion app on a tablet etc would be pretty much useless for me. But if you are using a monitor or a few, yes, there would be good use for an app that not only displays the map, but approach plates and anything else you can SHIFT + K out. 2

Muzzer Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 This for Android tablets works well, and it gives me a map, ICP, cockpit switches, MFD buttons etc 2

Yes exactly - to pull the built in kneeboard across would be a good function. Opy Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 I used to use iControl a lot, but it is specific to the warthog. https://apps.apple.com/au/app/icontrol-dcs/id435409019 And it doesn't do the maps. And it is quite expensive.
