EdtheBASS Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) Hi, Before I updated to 2.7 I had never had any problems but now I have had a few issues of DCS freezing while in SP mode flying the F18. This happens after about 10-20 mins of gameplay. No stuttering or problems beforehand. I then have to restart the PC. I have been using these forums for a while and have done just about every possible fix, recommendation here but to no avail. The last fix was a pagefile and power profile recommendation and this was followed by a crash with windows telling me it was POWER_MANAGEMENT. I did get a zipped crash file which I will add here thank you and any suggestions? I have no add ons and have done steam verify EDIT- tried a few more tweaks but crashed to desktop. File attached if any help Many thanks. PS I am 52 so by defination am a bit slow on the computer side. It's pretty new with the GTX 3060 and an running DCS on an SSD dcs.log-20210815-114011.zip dcs.20210815-114011.crash dcs.20210815-121013.crash Edited August 15, 2021 by EdtheBASS Added file
Riorion Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Looks just like my reports today, DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0006 (plus ~100 duplicate messages, mine had ~1200 duplicates in one instance lol). Initial testing after disabling hot plug seems to yield positive results, in your control options on the bottom right there's a button to disable it. I went from crashing within 2 minutes of mission start to actually flying for about 20 minutes now. Edit: disabling hot plug definitely helped in my case, though I'm still getting the same error just not as frequently. Maybe once every 30ish minutes. All I can find is from several months ago suggesting to disable this or that graphics setting but it seems like a fairly common issue with several causes. dcs.20210815-235857.log Edited August 16, 2021 by Riorion 1
EdtheBASS Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Thanks, i'll give that a go Ed EDIT - I have applied the fix you recommended above and I am still playing...no crashes. It did freeze for about 10 secs about 10 mins in but then continued to play and I haven't had any more issues since. I'll continue to monitor and report back if there are any changes Thanks again Ed Edited August 16, 2021 by EdtheBASS

The other half of the issue on my end was my GPU overclock, resetting to factory defaults in afterburner since has lead to no more crashes, flying around in multiple missions for 2+ hours and even smoothed out my framerate. May be something to consider if you're using any overclocking. (also solved my MS Flight Sim 2020 crashes as well, wonder why flight sims are the only games I have installed that don't like it ) 1
overkillke2 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Hi! I have a problem when I play in VR. The screen freezes after 10-20 minutes but I still have game sound. I played mainly with the F18, I have not tested with another device. I don't think it will change anything because I also have this problem in the game menus. All my drivers are up to date and I have already tried reinstalling the game but it doesn't change anything. Can you help me? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 17, 2021 ED Team Posted August 17, 2021 Thanks are you running any user mods or unofficial edits? Please rename your dcs folder in saved games C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta to C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS.openbetabackup this will make the folder a backup, then run a slow repair on dcs restart and dcs will create a new saved games dcs folder. login and test. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Flappie Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 (edited) Hi, I cannot open your zip file. Can you? So far, i don't see what causes your crashes. The .crash file is most often not enough to understand what triggers DCS crashes. The full dcs.log is the most useful file. It lies inside that zip file, but I cannot open it. Next time you have a crash, please attach the dcs.log file alone (not dcs.log.old, which is the log of your previous game session). Edited August 21, 2021 by Flappie ---

Flappie Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Do you overclock? If so, try to lower the frequency of your GPU or RAM (depends on what you overclocked). If you don't overclock, take a look at your CPU rad: is it clogged with dust? Testing the PSU is more complicated. If you have access to another one, you can check if crashed keep on coming with it or not. ---
