StankFaust Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Hi all, Im pretty new to DCS, I fly it offline and own most of the wwii warbirds with the exception of the spit. I flew a hop last night in the p-51 and it was like butter. Handled sweet, stick light in the hand etc. This morning, first hop I go to do the single mission in instant action where you dogfight the dora and when I click fly the plane rolls hard left and nose down. It takes 10 - 15 seconds to get it trimmed and by that time the fight has long been joined sonce you only have about 5 seconds before the merge on instant action. It did it 3 times in a row. I tried the dora and she handled just fine. anyone else notice a change like this is there anything to do about it like save trim settings? Thanks for the help
grafspee Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 You should try Bf-109 air start You will not complain about P-51 anymore As far as i know, no way to fix it. System specs: I7 14700KF, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, Gigabyte RTX 4090,Win 11, 48" OLED LG TV + 42" LG LED monitor
VeeSPIKE Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 In Settings/Misc. there is a setting for Synchronize Cockpit Controls. Try flipping that setting and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the help Same Here smooth as Butter turns are easy and Nonproblematic TILL you start a Mission then Totally Different Plane!!!! Where Did My P-51 GO? lol I call this a BUG but others say it's not and I'm to Green of a Pilot to know what I'm talking about. YOU Have To Start using Combat Flaps In Missions and Dog Fights. No one talks about this like it's Top Secret so only Good Pilots Know this LOL I'm out of my mind right? Try 10% Combat Flaps when Turning ALSO you can't pull the stick as hard as you do in Free Flight so Start trying to easy pull the stick back and listen for sound changes when doing that AND if You FIND ANY MORE helpful tips to Aid in Flying in Mission Share them I Don't Know All of Them. GOOD LUCK. Edited August 19, 2021 by DishDoggie
StankFaust Posted August 29, 2021 Author Posted August 29, 2021 Well, the initial out of trim gripe went away after about a day. At the start of a mission the p51 would jerk nose low and left and it would take all the way to the merge to get her trimmed out correctly. Now she's back to her normal trimmed self. So it might have been on my end or was a ghost patch. anyway, back to the p51. I've noticed that if I go from instant action to mission editor and select the p51 d30 as my ride (instant action uses the d25 I think) it can mess with your stick profiling a bit. I know I've had to redo the p51 axis curves a couple times flipping between the two birds. The combat flaps on the pony are great out to 400mph I usually do well on the stick pulling unless I have one on my tail. It's very hard to be smooth and not go into an accelerate stall with tracers zipping by

It's a known problem of the game loosing some of control assignments if only one controls folder is shared between both Mustang variants (or both Spitfire variants for that matter). Go to your C:\Users\(your user name)\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input folder, wheer DCS stores all your assignments and check if there are two sub-folders for the Mustang. One should be called "P-51D", the other "P-51D-30-NA". If one of them is missing on your install, create in manually and make sure both have exactly the same content. That should solve your problems once for all. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
