its not that its inaccurate, its just not a useful measure ... the advantage that fpsVR gives you is the ability to differentiate between CPU and GPU frametime, and therefore understand what you need to tune.

 

the other mechanisms such as the frametime viewable in steamvr is an aggregate number AFAIK. I'm not aware of another useful alternative. fpsVR costs very little ... its worth it if you are into tuning the game.

 

I would also add no matter the mechanism you need to turn motion smoothing off to accurately measure performance.

What GPU do you use? If AMD, Catalyst can display fps as well as GPU frame time.
