Thanks for your attention and your time, Gruman.

No, I haven't it on C://. The first log have been caught from the Saved Games folder on C://.

And I have no savvy at hand, unfortunately, so I am used to care these matters bt myself.

Skatezilla Updater GUI? Good, I will take note of this hint, but according to what is at my knowledge, I have no blocking settings from Russia on my own router set. How to check out for that, by the way?

With best regards.

@Gruman I'm pretty sure his DCS has been installed on the G:\ drive from the start. Mind that different logs don't start the same way (those from "AppData/Temp/DCS..." and those from the main DCS folder).

Apart from the question "Why is this happening just now, when all the likes went out fine until a month ago", well, you can believe me or not on that, but I failed to open a ticket - I only got a useless silly FAQ answers in return, but no choices to do that instead.

I could take this only as a clear sign of avoiding any user to put questions on anything

The DCS support ticket page is available to any DCS shop user. You should be able to access it, and if you cannot it's not ED's will.

Let's meet up on Discord. I'll send you my ID.

You have said it right... it should. But I'm a registered user/purchaser (since years), and that page refuses to open.

So whom is fault?

Enough for it. I have answered to your kind message.

With best regards.

Not the router, the Internet Service Provider.

You could download Skazillas Gui. There you will see status lights if your computer can reach the different update servers.

I doubt its an issue, since your logs showed a connection to the server in Switzerland.

Well, im sure Flappie can fix it via Discord. If you get stuck without a solution, feel free to send a PM/DM.

Sorry for having read your replies late, dear friends. And thanks a lot for your kind support most of all.

Just for the record, I got the same error in return also after having tried Skatezilla's useful utility.

With best regards.

@maximov I tried to help JagHond the best I could. He let me took control of his PC and we tried several things. We even tried to install a brand new version of DCS at another location, but the updater behaved the exact same way. Notice in the log files the extremely long time the updater takes to initialize, around 24 seconds:

00000.019 INFO : cmdline: "G:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe"
00024.679 STATUS: Initializing...

Once it's initialized, we hit the same wall over and over:

00055.032 STATUS: Child failed to connect: (1460) Timeout. Operazione non riuscita.

I went back to an old thread in which I helped a user getting out of nearly the same mess, and I just saw this in his log:

00000.015 INFO : cmdline: "F:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\dcs_updater.exe" --apply install SYRIA_terrain
00021.100 STATUS: Initializing...

It seems his updater was taking about the same amount of time initializing, here 21 seconds. So maybe that's linked to a firewall rule as well.

The difference is JagHond's PC is able to reach the "http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com" URL and find updates. The issue comes afterwards, when the udpater tries to download the update.

@JagHondPlease try this procedure.

@JagHondPlease try the wired connection of the computer bypassing the router.

Good morning, dear Maximov.

Thanks for your hint, but I'm really afraid that the issue has to be searched elsewere.

Flappie (thanks a huge lot for this, mon frère) and I spent two hours yesterday in searching and testing everywhere in my PC/system what the real reasons of this strange problem could be. But all his efforts went useless and he had to surrender, getting stuck in conclusion - literally.

To Flappie, now: thanks a lot for that hint too. But actually I already knew all those, so that was the reason because since a long time ago I set a specific exception in Windows Firewall for all those DCS executables, just to avoid it could "block" them when attempting to connect to all the DCS servers elsewhere. The same I did on my router, opening all those DCS specific ports needed.

I repeat, all thing went out fine and quick until one month ago, approximately. What went wrong, and why. in particular? I. Just. Don't. Know. It. I did nothing.

So I am going to send a formal assistance request to that email address Maximov kindly gave me yesterday, and I will see what will happen now.

Thanks for your attention and with best regards.

Hey,

I just want to chime in and note that I seem to have the exact same issue described here! Therefore I would be very glad if the solution, once one has been found, could be posted here. I will try to open a support ticket aswell tomorrow.

With best regards.

I fixed the problem by downloading the update via a VPN (as suggested by ED support). Now everything seems to work fine even without the VPN.. I had to "reinstall" every module tho (well they were all still downloaded so it did not take that long). Strange stuff, still no Idea what causes the issue 😄

Interesting that, it should even worth a try at this point...

Update: I did it, but no way. It's happening the same. I also tried with changing my DNS settings to Google ones in VPn4 and adding those to my IPv6, but in vain.

I'm wondering what has changed to updating process, now, due that all that is showing clearly that what is happening is not fault of mine.

With best regards.

Of course, it's not your fault. But something is blocking the update files. Antivirus blocking is the reason in 99% of cases, the rest of the cases are due to providers or firewall network hardware.

Several tens of thousands of users were able to do this, so it is unlikely that the reason for the failure lies in the update itself.

Are you living in an appartment block? Maybe a friendly neighbor where you could borrow their WLAN for the update?
Or maybe tether your mobile phone to your computer and use this connection? Just to check if its your Internet Connection?

Just make sure you are unplugging the network cable for your current modem/router/firewall/gateway or whatever 😉.

Thanks for your attention, dear maximov and Gruman.

Here are my answers.

To maximov: since months ago, I added a specific exception in Windows firewall and Defender - the only ones I'm using - for the main DCS executables and the whole Eagle Dynamics folder. This apart, what you have said are reasonable and I agree with you, but the weird issue is still.

To Gruman: thanks  for your suggestions, mate. I have just tried one more attempt connecting via my phone after having disabled my router, but unfortunately getting the same usual negative result in return as before. Still weird.

With best regards.

This means that the problem is not with the provider or router, but with your computer. We have narrowed the search field.

You said Defender and Windows Firewall. Did you try disable both for a test run? Any other "security" tools installed (Avast, Kaspersky, Norton and any other paid or free software which might be on a computer from a system integrator (Dell, HP)? Have you checked the quarantine tab in your Defender App? Might have highlighted a DCS tool which might have been flagged before you added the exceptions?

Have you tried renaming your DCS Install folder and run a fresh new installation?

Hello, guys.

@maximov: true indeed. But what should I do then?

@Gruman: I already tried that, butI couldn't disable both, only Firewall. No luck. And, as perhaps I said before, I positively don't use any other firewall or antivirus, as first because I don't trust them as I do with MS ones (tested). By the way, years ago I have asked a friend of mine to assembly a custom PC. Besides, in Defender's quarantined files are only those rare viruses attempting to attack my PC and immediately recognized and blocked.

At last, with Flappie (thank you a lot for that once again, mon frère) we tried some days ago to attempt your last two suggestions, but with no success - trying a new installation, in particular, was halted because the usual reason, i.e. it has been impossibile to download the necessary files.

That unfortunately is.

With best regards.

True, and I also answered requesting some instructions about...

Fine, we will see how also this will end. Thanks for all anyway it goes, maximov.

Glad to know you finally managed to get it solved, but would you be so kind to share what was the main reason after all ?

Thanks a lot, dear mate, but actually we (together with ED technicians) are still seeking for it.

After finished, I will share this information gladly. Promised.
