Orion base with thrustmaster stick

Hi guys

I have tmwh stick and thinking of buying orion stick too for hornet.

If I buy orion stick, can I use my tm f16 stick with orion base? Is it compatible? Because I want to keep using f16 stick when I fly with f16 and a10c

Thanks

Otoh, I think the VPC CM2 base is a better choice.

You can use it with an adapter sold on their site https://wwsimstore.com/p/321.html , but jfyi, the simapp pro software lacks any sort of programmability of the buttons, so using any other wh-compatible stick with different shift register config than warthog/cougar will yield unpredictable results. There is no reason to get the orion base as it is clearly inferior on every level to vpc or vkb bases.

And yes, I do own and am a user of ww products.
I also suggest waiting until thanksgiving when they announce their F-16 throttle and stick.

Yes, just purchase the adapter from WW's store $9.90. You will have to disassemble the stick but there are decent vids on youtube that will lead you through it.

....and no, I don't recommend the VPC CM2 base.

Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir

And the reason is? You got both, I assume?

You will have to disassemble the stick

Which would, unfortunately, make it incompatible with the Warthog. Something to keep in mind.

Sorry to say that my time with Virpil wasn't great.....throttle and stick

If you only use a  Libra/Orion it's a non issue

Yeah, I had a few issues myself, but nothing too major. Had a couple of their throttles for testing too and decided in favor of the Taurus. Not fond of their buttons and hats. But I still believe the mt50 cm2 base is still the best in its class in versatility and overall performance. I do have quite a few wh-compatible sticks though. Mostly fly the TM hog and hornet sticks. Winwing should have made the libra and orion bases 100% TM compatible and programmable. Then we would have a winner on our hands.

Thrustmaster warthog stick is compatible with Orion base and adapter, but isn't recommended because it's too heavy.

Bit of a Thread Resurrection here...  I bought the adapter just in case, though I didn't think I would ever use it. Just started messing with the A-10C and I find I want my TMS back, so was going to put on the Cougar grip.  I AM leery of the Cougar weight on the ORION base. Wondering how many folks have actually done it and if it it OK despite the weight?

Not sure I want to "spring" (no pun intended) for the new WinWing F-16 grip, though it looks mighty sweet!

As an aside, anyone have an A-10C HOTAS mapping for the stock F/A-18 ORION that they would like to share?  I was going to use the little RECCE MARK Hat as TMS, but as I fly in VR, I tend to use that for the DCS MENUS radio mod as well as paging through the Kneeboard.

I had tried the Warthog stick, and it was actually a little too heavy for the Orion base;

if the Cougar stick weighs the same, then it could be too "soft"

I am guessing the Cougar weighs pretty much the same as the Warthog...so probably a no-go.  😞

I'm looking for a WH to WW adaptor, but unfortunately they don't sell it anymore. Any chance you would like to sell yours?

Same here,

Eventually could it be possible to know the dimensions of the metal "screw" and the cable wiring connections ?

The pinout you can find it here: Virpil or Thrustmaster stick with winwing base pinout/cable : hotas (reddit.com)

The thread is an M36x2. Someone already made a 3d print design: Warthog Stick threaded sleeve for winwing base by isotope_jx - Thingiverse
