i get the ego masturbation of memorizing and doing a cold start, but once you do that a dozen times, it's just a waste of time. i'd rather focus on the actual mission instead of sitting there and doing the same actions over and over.

please keep this in mind when creating apache campaign, thank you

The apache start is actually quite quick. In paricular the INS alignment takes 4 minutes (or 6 without GPS) That's enough time to get the rest going while not waiting forever on it when you're done setting things up.

I find hot starts quite bothersome because I always need something or other that wasn't set up correctly and in the end I spend more time trying to remember what I need to do after a hot start and looking through all the menus and over all switches and changing the settings to what I want rather than doing that as I start the aircraft. And then I end up missing things anyway and need to fiddle with things at the most inappropriate times.

I expect similar startup times to the F16 with stored heading alignment mode (~5 minutes).

CasmoTV has a Video he made and in it he talks about the startup of the Apache. Check it out at about 29:00 min he said the startup is fast BUT it's all the system setup and sensors that take all the time and that the Flir can take up to 20min to warm up to give a good quality picture. He was a Apache Pilot. The Video I'm talking about is called. DCS Helicopter Tutorial- Formation techniques and general set up. At 29:00 in the Video I enjoyed it. I don't want to offend anyone by putting a link in this post without permission so search YouTube for CasmoTV then the Video: DCS Helicopter Tutorial- Formation techniques and general set up. around 29:00.

Most of the campaigns within DCS World feature hot-started birds (apart form maybe the first mission).

There is also, always the autostart feature/cheat whatever you want to call it. It will get you up in the air in no time 🙂

Well an option would be a good compromise.

What I would like though is having the AI help with the startup. I don't know how it's done in the real bird. Do you read the checklist for each other or do you do your own things?
