  1. it looks like an insect which is ewww
  2. what's the point? you can't use this on apache? you made dediated sim pit for f-18 but it will look bad flying apache?
  3. it looks uglier than the a-10. why is it do you think? imo it's because of the slanted vertical stabilizers, the skinniness of the fuselage, it looks like an f-16 with the tail split into two. here's my edit that improved the f-18's looks: imo it still looks like the diseased step brother of the su-27, but it looks better
  4. i get the ego masturbation of memorizing and doing a cold start, but once you do that a dozen times, it's just a waste of time. i'd rather focus on the actual mission instead of sitting there and doing the same actions over and over. please keep this in mind when creating apache campaign, thank you
  5. look in the related videos section, many people have explained it already.
  6. when he kept repeating he is the greatest, i broke my back from cringing so hard. how embarrassing it must be to witness them filming that.
  7. agreed about the name, from what i understand it's some kind of obscure tech-geek easter egg or reference, but i'd rather it be consistent. it should be a nickname disagree about gender neutral. it would be such a waste of time to have both female and male voice lines. females are a tiny percentage of pilots in general, just keep it male.
  8. in the decade since i bought ka-50, i have only ever purchased a-10c, f-14b, and apache. they should dispense with all the other crap and garbage and focus on apache only. quality>quantity.
  9. there has been plenty of footage where hellfires were "wasted"on individual runners. why? they may be setting up ieds, the chaingun ammo may be out, they may be in a position to ambush friendly forces. there are tons of scenarios where it's necessary to "waste" ordinances like that. do you know how many jdams were employed against infantry positions?
  10. change the optic to white hot or black hot, you're probably in normal mode
  11. Taiwan is more relevant than both. I don't care about flying 50s and 60s era aircrafts
  12. the terrain technology does not support flattening the terrain to that detail. you'd have to flatten a large swath of the terrain which will be unrealistic. this engine needs to make it possible to change elevation of terrain within 1 meter resolution. then it will be possible the terrain engine is not remotely detailed enough for ca, this was my initial consternation regarding a whole module dedicated to ca, when at the time, the map detail was even lower than depicted in your screenshot. it's just an incredibly bad project. not to mention no track physics and vehicles skid around like hovercraft. i wish they never started that priject and instead put all the time and resources to develop the terrain first.
  13. Not a fan of the region, it seems designed for UK fanboys and their harriers and other european planes. I like modern American and Russian equipment
  14. the cold war is gone and done i don't like to dwell on the past. russia and the us now fight proxy wars and they don't directly engage each other. a germany maps et in the 70s and 80s is mundane as hell
  15. I think modeling the major Air bases would be a waste of resources, smaller bases and farps were the real staging areas for many of the operations. afghanistan is a map made for the apache so i think featuring on the regions where apache operated most is truly the priority in terms of terrain selection
  16. I am looking to recreate the topology of Nevada with modern engine technologies enabling sheer cliffs such as that found in Grand Canyon. And rock formations such as those found on Marianas.
  17. From what I understand, it's because of the light sources? I agree that Nevada shouldn't be pitch black on a night with the moon out, which is often the case. On moonless nights? maybe
  18. Very bad take and signals an ignorance regarding the politics of the region. They've been saying that for 50 years. Furthermore, no matter how detailed our map will be, the Chinese will have access to more detailed and accurate data than anyone can ever produce, from military satellite and drone surveillance to the fact that they can literally swim from china to taiwan and have done so routinely in the past for training their spies and assassins. They probably have people on the ground in Taiwan right now, and all this data has been gathered over a period of half a century. they don't need to reference a video game map made in 2 or 3 years based on publicly available information. The idea that a modern superpower's battle plan hinges on a video game is the epitome of dunning-krugers
  19. It would be called DCS: Taiwan or DCS: South China Sea depending on how expansive they want to make the theater. I have in depth and on location data regarding Taiwan so if anyone wants to collaborate to make this a reality I am more than happy to oblige with my expertise on the subject. Furthermore I completed a full tour of the dynamic campaign in Commanche vs Hokum which featured the entire island of Taiwan. Like Marianas, I would prefer a modern version of the island rather than a WW2 version. I want to include an unprecedented 500 important or landmark objects such as Taiwan 101, the Presidential Palace, capital buildings, temples, disused fortifications and bunkers from the occupation period, etc, etc. The topography of Taiwan naturally lends itself to helicopter operations, it can be flown over via fighter jet quite quickly, but for helicopters it's perfect, furthermore there is a variety of terrain from rocky mountains, dense forested mountains and jungles, to lowland valleys, swamps, arid dusty regions, many different types of shores, ports, wharfs to highly congested population centers and everything in between. With Taiwan the transition from industrial factory to Buddhist pagoda ridden mountainous jungles is often 15 minutes bus ride apart. Not to mention all the windy mountain roads, tunnels, and bridges. The variety of geography, architecture, infrastructural development within a 10 mile radius is astounding. Again, it's the perfect template for a low level helicopter sim. terrain obstruction and flying nap of the earth through canyons is unparalleled in Taiwan. Furthermore the armed forces of Taiwan is comprised mostly of US exports, so to build the indigenous force of the ROC faction will be quite easy. Cobras flying overhead are a very common sight to Taiwanese residents
