Is it just me or do the keybinds for changing flashlight color and intensity work in the last stable?

Is it just me or do the keybinds for changing flashlight color and intensity work in the last stable version?

They dont for me, when I bring up the control settings they respond to my inputs but in the sim the light always stays bright white.

There are two cockpit light systems but both controlled by the same inputs. One is a battery powered handheld flashlight and the other is an aircraft powered corded lamp. Which is in use automatically switches based on aircraft power. The first one mentioned does not have any of the green filter or dimming features.

Ok, but if you have the aircraft power on then, can you change the color and intensity?

Yes. Be aware the intensity adjustment by keyboard requires that you release and press again the input every step of intensity. A single long hold only jumps the first step.

Can some moderator check this and move this thread into the appropriate bug section if in fact there is a bug regarding that you can not change the color of the flashlight to green and not dim it either in the last stable version?

It is not a controller issue, the inputs are recognized in the software in the adjust controls dialog.

I have attached a mission, a track and the dcs.log

Wow, you're totally right. Hot starts act like you only have the battery pocket flashlight. I was testing on the ramp cold with battery power. So I went back and did the whole start.

Without any power in a cold airplane you only have the pocket flashlight, makes sense. Flip on the battery and I have access to the utility light (set to green). Again, makes sense. I proceed with the start, APU on, still utility light. Crank right engine, set throttle to idle, right engine generator kicking in... light turns white. Turn off the R GEN switch, can use utility light again.

So right now you're only allowed to use the utility light only with battery power but not generator power. Weird.

Ok, I never understood that there where two different flashlight simulated. Hopefully a moderator can move this into the bug section if it is indeed a bug as it seems.

I have two guesses as to how the behavior got this way:

  1. The utility light was supposed to work on a/c battery power but implementation took that to mean solely a/c battery power instead of including normal full power.
  2. The utility light was interpreted as "stow before takeoff" so developer made the utility light not functional in flight.

I'm curious how practical it is to use the utility light in flight. If there wants to be a limiting system then maybe the light can point toward the floor uncontrollably based on aircraft G (e.g. >2G).

I was going crazy wondering why my flashlight is stuck on white..

I can confirm the bug you've found is also present in the Open Beta version.

Can someone acknowledge this as as a bug and if so move it to the correct section?

I really miss the green light that I could turn down the intensity on, used it as a green FLITELite finger light.

The dimmable/green flashlight is available in-flight or on ground when on BAT only, i.e. switching off L & R GEN will make it dimmable and green/white togglable... seems the logic isn't quite right...
