How efficient are the Mig21 jamming pods?

I'm making myself a cold war scenario.

Some F14s vs USSR with MiG21, MiG 27s and Su27s.

None of my missiles hit none of the Soviets, not phenix, not sparrows, not sidewinders. My RIO gets good lock with the PH, but they don't hit.

The MiG-21 jammer - from my memory.  is not very efficient. The SPS-141 was first and foremost created to counter the MIM-23 HAWK SAM system.
Sounds like you need to practice more in the F-14 and launch weapons in better parameters. There is a software called Tacview that let you analyze
your missions and engagements in detail, it's a good way to get a birds eye view and figuring out what went wrong and how the Soviets evaded your missiles.

The Sidewinder's effectiveness has nothing to do with jamming pods so indeed, it sounds like you're not launching within parameters. There was an issue a while ago with Sparrows not guiding on jamming targets, but that's been fixed.

SPS-141 was designed to counter MIM-23 HAWK indeed, but with time passing the capabilities of the set were improved and new variants were being introduced (such as SPS-142 to counter Nike Hercules). I have 1987 SPS-141 and SPS-142 manual which covers employment of SPS by Su-22 (SPS-141 MVG) and MiG-21 / MiG-23BN (SPS-141E or K). Its not very clear about differences between the stations, but maybe its me not being able to get much out of it since my German is as bad as my Japanese 😅

But there is a table which I figured would be interesting:

I dont know how useful it would be against aircraft like F-14 or F-15 but manual and designers accounted for all the newest types of radars.

Does DCS even simulate different jammer effectiveness and jamming strength? I thought DCS just sets a flag if the jammer is active or not and that's it.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Yep, it's just an on/off flag.

This has nothing to do with jamming.

Very interesting!

I know it’s just a flag in DCS, but it would be really cool if that flag could carry a value against certain types of systems, such as the Hawk.

Fully simulated EW would be impossible, but I hope ED is planning a somewhat plausible system since EW is a big part of modern air combat.

I think literally everyone here would agree, that a more sophisticated EW simulation would be cool to have.
