VIII Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 The Web Installer won't let me choose a different drive and stating that I have no sufficient HDD space on where it used to live. My H:\ Drive has been cleaned and in the process I wanted to move DCS to another drive. I made the move and in the process I paused the operation midst way and then came to reinitialize the moving and pressed X so the files are half on both drives. I then Deleted all files with Shift DEL and went on downloading the installer. It keeps wanting to install itself where I was planning to move the files from.. I looked in registry and deleted some keys , also disabled the drive in windows Device Manager but nothing works.. Thanks for any help. Best,
Flappie Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) I've never heard about this issue before. Let's try something easier than messing with the registry (for now): Go here: "C:\Users\***\AppData\Local". Delete any "DCS..." folder that you can find. Then go here: "C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp". Again, delete any "DCS..." folder that you can find. Regarding the registry, you can use Process Monitor to see what files/keys are accessed by the DCS updater. Edited October 29, 2021 by Flappie ---
VIII Posted October 29, 2021 Author Posted October 29, 2021 Thanks Flappie, much appreciated. Here's a video of procedure, Keeps wanting to install in Initial drive; Thanks
Flappie Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) Thanks, the video is very helpful. Do you happen to have a file named "unins000.exe" at the root of your DCS installation in drive H:\ ? If so, try to run it. If you don't, unzip present attachment at the root of your DCS installation and give it a go. unins000.zip Edited October 29, 2021 by Flappie ---
Flappie Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Still no joy? Reach this path in the registry, and remove what you can find in it: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Eagle Dynamics\ ---
pete_auau Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Its trying to download the exe to your download folder which is on c drive and once its downloaded to your c drive and when you run the dcs exe than you will have a choice to where you want it to go. For some reason your c drive hasnt got enough free space for the 93944 on where it says it has only got 80471. Reason i saying this i had the same issue awhile ago the only way i could get it to download was to delete things from the download folder and other apps or games on c drive that i didnt want to make the extra room for the download. Now i solved my issues by getting another hard drive and installing dcs on it. Might be not your issue your mfacing but this is what i had to go thru when i had the same error that pop up
VIII Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 (edited) Thanks Flappie, I did delete the key you specified and did have the uninst.exe in the drive after the web installer tried to initiate. It's working now perfectly. So I did use the uninst.exe of the newly downloaded web installer. Thanks a million! Edit: Successfully Installed! Thanks Pete_auau Edited October 30, 2021 by VIII
