Tank50us
I hate to burst your bubble dude, but that's a more modern OLS, likely seen on a Nimitz class. Here's one on Abraham Lincoln: Here's one that's aboard USS Ranger, one of CV59s sisters:

MurderOne
CV-41, while not CV-59, employed the same equipment during the same time periods. IFLOLS would not be tested until 1997, and fleet-wide deployment would not be until 2004. CV-59 was decomissioned in 1993. CV-41: 1 Sorry, no cool signature here. The Forrestal as modelled had an FLOLS system not an IFLOLS as the newer carriers. The IFLOLS switched to a newer sharper fiber optic light source so you can’t use those as examples of how the Forrestals FLOLS should look. 1

Is the one above on clearly CV-41 an accurate representation?

I'm not entirely read into the exakt differences between them so I can't really tell you. But if it is an FLOLS system it should be the same. Baz000
yeah, that was my line of thinking too, even though they are not on the same ship.
Baz000
Hey, I found this video from Nimitz CVN-68 from the 80s, but it shows how the meatball looks like from the Pilot perspective from an A-6. Also, the video seems older so I'd guess this is not IFLOLS. Edited November 18, 2021 by Baz000
