baksie Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Buildings looks transparent when using Shkval. Why is this? Nate--IRL-- Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 It was the way the Lock On engine dealt with the problem of "Pop up". Objects were gradually faded in at a far distance from the view, However this was designed before the SHKVAL was introduced into the Sims engine, so you can now see this process of fade in, through the SHKVAL. If you have a fast computer, you can extend the distance at which objects are faded in, eliminating this. These settings are in the config files somewhere, but you will need a fast PC. Vesperatus Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Could anyone give me pointers on how and where to change the values describe above. Has you can see, it's under 7.0 Km. Which means I see that often. I wonder if there is the same kind of option for the vehicles. Some time, I will see only the missile on a sam launcher, without seeing the sturcture itself.
docehrenhoefer Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Under Options, have you checked sight distance? DCS BS always chooses medium graphics options, even with my machine (Dual Core 8850, Radeon 4870, 4 GB Ram), so I had to check it all. I never saw such "popups"...
Feuerfalke Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I never saw such "popups"... As described above, they use transparency to prevent pop-ups. So of course you don't see any pop-ups in DCS. You can see objects fading in and out, though. Vesperatus Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I have put everything to maximum except for water detail so it's not an issue with graphic settings. I think I could push the LOD farther because at that distance, the trees look allright but the building are looking very strange. In addition to that, if there is fog, I will see the same thing if i'm 100 meters from a building. So, any tweaks for that ?
Raz_Specter Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Are you running the latest GFX drivers for your card? if not update them and try that.
