I currently have the Rift S which I am considering replacing with the HP G2 but I cannot decide if I should wait and see if the upgraded version that is currently only available in the US is released in the UK.

1. Is it worth waiting for the upgraded version of the G2
2. Is my current system going to be good enough to run a G2

System specs
Windows 11 Pro
MSI X570 Gaming Plus
Ryzen 5600X
Gigabyte RTX 2080
32Gb 3600Mhz
1Tb M2 drive
3Tb HDD
Soundblaster ZX
Rift S

Thanks

1: For seated only gameplay not really. Main improvement is in tracking cameras with controllers.

2: Yes.

Rift S to Reverb G2 will be a nice upgrade.

I upgraded from Rift S to reverb G2, The visual improvement is brutal, but..... I am forced to change my 2080 super into a 3080 ti in order to maintain decent framerates and the visual quality the G2 gives,  and for sure you will mess a lot with configurations, WMR and steam VR are not as much "plug and play" like the oculus are...

Other thing is the sweet spot, (when you moves your eyes from the center of the HMD without moving your head), in the reverb is very very little, you must to keep your eyes looking foward and move your head more than with the oculus.

But when all the stars are aligned....oh man!! is like almost flying in real life..

I went from a Rift S to a HP G2 (gen 1) and echo both comments above. the area of maximum clarity is small, but improved when I got prescription lens for it.

Am I glad I did it?  Absouletly.

I'm on a 3080 so can't say for sure, but the 2080 should be enough overall.  You may need to trun down a few things, but the increase in clarity minimization of SDE) will override that by orders of magnitude IMHO.

I can get acceptable performance with my G2 with my system (I7-8700K and GTX 1080TI). Yours should be a little better overall.  That being said, I am eyeing an upgrade next year when the NVIDIA 4000 series comes out.
