Esc key not working in multiplayer

Hi all,

 

I'm dealing with a strange Esc key (also Tab key) behavior in Multiplayer.

If i start DCS (OB) and jump directly in a multiplayer server, my Esc key doesn't work (need to kill the DCS process to quit)

If i start DCS (OB), start a single player mission (doesn't matter which one), just hit Esc key and return to Main menu, start a multiplayer session, Esc key works perfectly.

I don't understand where this is coming from. I've tried to erase my Saved Game folder, repair DCS, keybinding reset ... nothing seems to work.

 

If someone can help me, it's quite annoying to always start a single player mission and after go to Multiplayer.

I tried to remove the default "End mission" binding of the "UI Layer" category (Escape key) but doing so disables the "end mission menu" for SP as well.

Therefore, I have no clue where your issue is coming from.

A wild guess: are you using an MP-oriented mod with dedicated bindings, such as SRS? If so, please check your controls. Maybe the Escape key gets intercepted by said mod. In SRS, Escape is keyboard button "2".

Yes, i've reinstalled everything from scratch... no other solution found ....

I have exactly the same problem - launching a workable multiplayer session is possible only after starting the single mission

Can you please attach your Export.lua script? If you have one, it is located here: "Saved Games/DCS.../Scripts/Export.lua".

Thanks, I see you have DCS-BIOS installed. I was thinking maybe there could be an issue with your scripts.

Please try this:

1. Rename your Export.lua file so the game cannot find it (say, "Export.lua.bak").
2. Launch DCS, enter a multiplayer server and try your Escape key. Does it work?

OK. You should consider a "slow" DCS repair (no need to reinstall the game).

Ok, I never mentioned but I have the steam version.
I've done a steam repair but it doesn't help for me.

I found two scripts using the 'Esc' key in the main DCS folder:

• DCS World\Config\Input\UiLayer\keyboard\default.lua (Esc = 'Exploration cancel')
• DCS World\Config\Input\Explorations\keyboard\default.lua  (Esc = 'End mission')

Delete these, then run a new Steam repair.

Please ensure both files were re-created after the repair. If so, I have no more ideas at the moment.

I can confirm that both files were re-created.
Ok, I can live with the fix opening a single player mission before multiplayer.
Maybe I found the time fore a re-install at the weekend.

i have a problem that is driving me crazy.

When i launch dcs, join multiplayer serv, my esc key doesn't work.
i have to ctrl alt supp to quit the game.

When i launch dcs, play solo, quit, then join multi, my key is working.
I have no F.....clue how this can happen.

My files looks good, input, keyboard etc etc, i have done clean Up then repair, and looks like the only fix is to launch solo game, press ESC to check then join multi.

I would like to know if any of you already had that problem?

To avoid that i have to launch a solo mission, test the esc key, then join the serv i want to play, looks like it's working, but dude that way too restrictive.

ESC doesn’t work in MP sessions. Do other key commands work? Just wondering if the issue is the window loosing focus?

I've jusy tested this to be sure: Escape key does work in MP sessions.

@plaiskool Ironhand is right. Try to add a button or another key to the "End mission" command from the "UI Layer" category. Does it work in MP?
