I am no longer having this problem

As I did some research

I realized I had downloaded key mapping for my joystick from someone else

That person had the zoom function on the UI layer calibrated to an axis

I removed that entirely

Now the escape key works is it supposed to so does everything else

Probably you have the same key coordinated also

OK no luck with that one, if I go to settings > controls > UI layer, search....Zoom, I only get options for toggle VR zoom, toggle VR spyglass zoom, none have any controls or keybinds mapped to them. If I try UI Layer > axis commands, ther'es no entries?

Update: Well I took out my current wireless keyboard and pugged back in my old USB cable one, and so far no repeats of the earlier problem. I have no idea if this has solved it or why a wifi keyboard might be the culprit?

This problem appears to be alive and well currently. I've spent a few hours working with another player to Troubleshoot/Fix this issue, and it's not as simple as just doing a reinstall/pseudo-reinstall (Trashing the savedgames folder and doing a slow repair). There is something that has yet to be identified that is causing the keybinding failures. I feel this needs further investigation, and will post whatever solution used to fix a fellow player's issue. Bumping this.

I was troubleshooting it for a friend, and he was using a Winwing profile. As soon as he did all of his keybinds in DCS and not importing a profile from the Winwing software, that fixed the issue. Hope that helps... I feel like the profile was causing the issue.

I've just found a way to reproduce this issue on purpose: when closing the Chat window using the "Chat show/hide" while the Chat window is open and active (a message can be typed in), the Escape key cannot be called anymore.

The user must then show the Chat window again so the Escape key works again.

I'll report this.

I have this issue intermittently. When it occurs, none of the commands from the UI Layer will work at all (Active Pause, End Mission, Frame Rate Counter, Time accelerate, etc.) regardless of what keystroke or control they are mapped to.
