Try to do it in this order:

1. Open CDDSstudioD ( make sure that there is no gaps in the software path !!!! )

2. Edit -> Add Files: select all the file you want

3. File -> Save : give the name without the extension ( = .cdds )

4. Edit -> BUILD CDDS : you should see the name you have entered in stage 3 ( Without gaps !!!! ) -> Save

5. By now you should see the process in the CMD windows and it should look something like this :

TexToDDs.exe -noise <Source Tga file> <Dest dds file> <alpha decrease by mipleve

l>

TexToDDs.exe <InDir> <extention> <OutDir>

TexToDDs.exe -complex <InDir> <extention> <CDDS FileName>

TexToDDs.exe -dump <CDDS FileName> <OutDir>

TexToDDs.exe -single FileName format mip outfilename

TexToDDs.exe -xml <Project FileName> <CDDS FileName>

I was looking in the db_countries.lua file and I have knottiest that every skin has its own “ID” for example:

cnt_unit("{3457BB1E-523F-4C24-BBEA-58D028623F05}", "Ka-50", {

color_scheme("{060AFECF-BFBD-44c5-9C47-D9B5EF35D104}", "Standard"),

color_scheme("{CC7B095B-038D-432e-B8D2-AE1F9A9F0E3A}", "Standard (faded)"),

color_scheme("{3E5CA0B0-C1CA-4b55-87BC-B230371124DA}", "Demo paint scheme #024"),

color_scheme("{B72394A9-596C-433B-9F1F-742F67B1BCC1}", "Demo paint scheme # 22 \"Black Shark\""),

So the question is from where should is take or create the ID for my own skin?

I think its time to make a tutorial, the more simple, the best, from the beggining and for real begginers.

Someone with a kids teacher inside, with tons of patience, kind enough and with time for explain how to do it.

1-BMP to CDDS file

2-Wich files need to be edited and how

3-All together in a comprehensive PDF or Word format, step by step, with screens and examples.

Yes, it is very time demanding, a real pain, but many users are very interested, and our tallent needs freedom and help. Our respect and gratitude for the user brave enough to do it.

I find it amusing that we're about to wrap up the first decade of the 21st century and game companies have still failed to make it easy to add something non game changing like an aircraft paint job (creators of Modman for president in 2012:thumbup:).

Anywho, great job on the skins. Kinda like being in a special forces unit while playing the campaign; best aircraft with the coolest paint jobs.

I'm pretty sure I've installed the "Mitch" skins properly; my helicopter in-game is a new skin

How do I change to use the ones I want in-game? In other words, how can I pick which skin will be on my helicopter of all the excellent ones included?

.

I hope that an easier way eventually presents itself for installation. All of those skins are really kewl.

I think someone asked this already. Will the custom skin show up in Multiplayer games so that others may enjoy the eye-candy? It would be nice to represent a specific group while on a Public Server.

Anyone have any ideas?

U don't the person who edits the missions pick your skins. For MP.

For single player go to the editor and you can pick u a mission and edit the skin in the weapons load out page. :joystick::pilotfly:

Don't want to derail the thread but curiosity got the better of me. Is this a newer model KA-50 in the picture above? I'm guessing that the globe is a FLIR system and also that the Shkval is mounted higher in the nose to accommodate this?
