Most all that I have downloaded have a lot of info like radio frequencies, tacan #s, etc in the text writeup and a couple to a bunch of pictures showing targets, waypoints, etc. But not so many include this info in the knee board. And I never know until I start flying the mission/campaign which it will be. So I end up taking pics w/ my cell phone of my PC screen so I can use them as a reference later on. Sometimes I need to use the 'Escape' key to pause the game so I can go back to the briefing to get info.

So I'd like ask that all needed info be included in the knee board please?

Hi CBStu

Agreed all campaigns do benefit from the addition off knee boards

My early free Campaign, 'The Serpent's Head' ( available from the user files), had full knee boards added  some time ago.

The second follow up campaign, 'The Serpent's head 2' (available from the e shop), has recently had kneeboards added and they will be available in the next DCS update.

My current campaign, 'Rise of the Persian Lion' ( available from the e shop) has always had full  knee boards.

Cheers

Yes, agreed. Especially for us VR players who can't easily tab to another application to read the info.

Among other things, this is one thing that I can count on in campaigns by Baltic Dragon and Reflected. Maybe others, but it's good to know the level of quality in a campaign that I'm buying, and the kneeboards are one indicator.

Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

Yes and thank you very much Badger633. I have no idea how kneeboards are created but what I see in some instances is that all the info already exists because we see it in the initial screens before we click 'Fly'. And most have at least some kneeboard pages. I am thinking that maybe a little reformatting of the existing info and we could have a few more kneeboard pages. We all know that this is just a game but, to me, I feel more realiistic looking at a kneeboard than looking at either my phone or pausing the game so I can go back and read part of the briefing.

I created a campaign but failed to do knee board info. The main reason why is lack of knowledge on how to do it. I tried after the fact of doing a YouTube search, but it didn't show much to help. I am going to work on figuring it out. I fly with VR and can see how that would help. The campaign that I created I took that into mind and tried to make it as simple as I could where you wouldn't need to reference it. That being said, creators spend a lot of time creating free missions and campaigns, so I try not to criticize too much when it doesn't have what I want. Knee boards, voice overs and other stuff. If it has its a bonus, if I don't like it, I just delete it.

In theory, it's pretty simple. Create an image file of about the right size (I typically make mine PNGs at 680x1024). Then open the .miz file for your mission with an archive program (I use 7Zip) and create a KNEEBOARD\IMAGES\ folder and drop all your images in there. That's it, you'll see all your kneeboard images when you play the mission.

Many of mine get created in Photoshop, though there are certainly plenty of free programs that'll work the same. I also make mission cards that show things like waypoints, comm channels, and airbase info in a Libre Office spreadsheet and then export that as an image file. Setting that up and then making any changes necessary is fast and easy.

I watched the above video. But I was thinking more of screen shots showing the target area. I also was a little confused on how to get it to show in mission specific not just aircraft specific. Bunny's explanations make since, and I went also went back and reviewed Cap's video as well. I am currently working on another campaign and plan on attempting kneeboard info as well as better voiceovers (I used free text to voice on last one, worked okay). Thank you, Bunny and Pete!!

One last thing, honestly what I would love to learn is how to make cinematic trailers!!

Thanks again!
