Keyboard does not work after installing standalone version of DCS world.

Hello I just installed DCS world and imported all my modules from the steam version and now my Keyboard does not work.  My joystick and pedals both work and I tested the steam version and my keyboard does not work there either.  Just uninstalled the steam version and the issue remains. Have had issues before and checked the config folder for my keyboard and it is empty.  Not sure what to do next.

Which config folder did you check?

Default keyboard files are in Your Drive:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Aircraft-Type\Input\keyboard
But this is the original file.

You should check C://Users/Your Name/Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input/Aircraft-Type/keyboard/
In there you should have a Keyboard.lua file (and a Keyboard.diff.lua if you changed something).

If for each aircraft the keyboard folder is empty, you could rename your DCS saved games folder (don't delete it) and let DCS create a new one.
That should fix things. Then copy the new keyboard folders over to the backup and rename it again to it's original state.

I just tried to do this and their is no plane list in my control folder now, just view and optionspresets folder.  I even went in game and started some missions with the planes to see if that would add the folder but no it did not.

Can you please try disconnecting your HP device before starting DCS? See if that fixes your issue.

OK I uninstalled both my HP printers and rebooted but still the keyboard does not work.  I also reinstalled the game this morning and there was no change.

That'es really weird.

If you go to the Controls panel of the game, does it detect your keyboard inputs when you wat to assign a new key to a command?

Try renaming your "Saved Games/DCS..." folder. Do NOT delete it, keep it as a backup.

Then run the game and see if your keyboard works at last.

If it still doesn't work after this, open a ticket to ED support by logging in here then click "Create a new ticket".

Seems I have figured it out, whenever I turn on game avionics mode in the main controls my keyboard quits working. Not sure if this is a bug or how it is supposed to work or even what game avionics mode does.

Game avionics is a simplification of DCS. Take it as an 'arcade' mode for the sim. A lot of aircraft have two controls instances: one is called 'Sim' or 'Real', and the second one is called 'Game'.

As soon as you activate Game avionics, the 'Game' controls are active. Disable it, and the 'Real/Sim' controls will be active.

Back to your issue: decide whether you want to fly 'arcade' (Game avionics enabled) or 'sim' (Game avionics disabled), then customize your controls accordingly (Game or Real/Sim).
