Is Petrovich too slow . ?

Cutting around the hill tops and trees and spot enemy , Ask Pet to lock on to target but seems too slow . By the time he`s locked i`m in danger . 

Also when missile gone and hit target a second lock takes too long and I must disengage . 

Maybe my speed is too high and need to try and hover or slow down  . 

Thoughts . ?

First part: you mean you go around the hill and tell Petrovich to scan the area or he is already on sight?

Second part: at what distances are you engaging?

I start at about 150 kph, first shot just before target in range message. Easily can shot two missiles and if I know targets are not too nasty, can fire 3 in one run

This is accurate, it takes about 10 seconds to go from Raduga doors closed to having them open and gyros spun up fast enough to operate. It’s a real life limitation. Do it early and stay under 20 degrees of bank of you want to cut down on the delay

I've realized that the doors are not open and i must scan early , i see a message saying {can not move sight} . ! 

Is that when the doors open for the sight . 

Also how do you unlock a target that you don't want . I've done a 180 to break lock only to find Pet is still locked on the same target when back on targets . ? 

I don't see unlock key bind .

Correct, you'll get that message when you open sight doors, but system is still not ready.

Down command in AI petrovich menu will unlock the target, but chances are that it will lock again.  Or you can just command Petrovich to scan again with short up command.

This whole AI operator is still pretty much WIP.

If you do down short you will have to wait 10 seconds again for gyros to spin up. If you up short somewhere else it will unlock and look somewhere else

Why? You need it to shut off the gyros quickly so you can maneuver past the 20-25 degree bank angle limit

Too unlock its short Down . and we need this to continue flying . ?

The commands for short up down or right or whatever only work when the AI menu is up, so you have to bind AI menu to a button, the triangle with the data boxes, when you see that the commands will work. The idea is that the buttons can be bound to one function and perform a different function when the AI menu is up.

 

since I don’t need Petro when landing or taking off, I have my hat switch set to control my landing light when the AI menu is not up, and when the AI menu is up it does the Petro commands short up right down left. 
 

designate target all that does is tell Petro to look where your boresight/nose of helicopter is pointing, straight in front of you. You can use it without the AI menu being up but since you can’t tell him to close gyros or lock something else it’s really not that useful
