There is something that ED can consider.  What about adding the ability to eject from an airplane that is underwater?  Let's say a pilot's jet is hit by a warship's AAA fire . In turn, the pilot attempts to fly back to land while flying 100 feet above the ocean's surface.  Due to catastrophic engine failure, the pilot forced to ditch at sea.  After landing in the water, the jet sinks quickly. The pilot pulls the ejection seat handle and ejects from the disabled jet underwater.  The pilot clears the ejection seat and activates floatation device to go to the surface to await rescue.

It is my hope that the fine folks at ED make the changes so that jets and pilots can land on water.  I know that virtual pilots who land in water are killed.  ED should modify the program so that players have the option to allow their pilots to live when landing in water.  In turn, this would allow for SAR missions to rescue downed pilots.

Are you honestly suggesting that using an ejection seat while being submerged, should be a thing in DCS?

For the love of all that is holy... just when I thought this guy's wishes couldn't get more silly... 🤦‍♂️

now, if you just meant to wish being able to ditch your aircraft, I'm all for that. No high priority for me, but sure.

Just for the record; I'm all for thinking out of the box, but: 🤨

Make a change from people asking for Phantoms I guess.  Not sure underwter ejections are as clean and survival as the OP makes out.

Fairly sure there aren't many aircraft that can eject underwater, well not aircraft where the whole canopy comes off, canopy shattering system, be they from seats or from detonation cords. There is this video (I believe from an F-8).

But before even thinking about that, pilots need to not just die whenever they end up touching or landing in water. We need to have functioning life rafts for applicable aircraft (and maybe just life rafts in general). It would be pretty pointless IMO ejecting or bailing out underwater if they're just going to die and disappear when they end up in it.

Such ejections are survivable, though. IIRC most modern aircraft do have canopy breakers just in case. If we get ditching, it'd make sense to add underwater ejections, too. That said, if you can eject, you generally won't ditch, because ditching itself is less survivable than punching out while still airborne. The underwater ejection case was with an aircraft that wasn't airborne in first place - it rolled off a carrier's flight deck. Which can happen if you fool around on the carrier, if if you do what this guy did (land far off the centerline and catch the 4-wire)
