Can we get the option to also add dumb (and laser guided) munitions to the bru-57 smart rack?

It would allow for more symmetrical loadouts and should also be realistic. I don't see why the ground crew would change the whole rack only because they don't need the smart capabilities for a given bomb loadout.

There's no point putting a dumb munition on a smart rack. It would basically be wasting a smart rack for another aircraft that may need it on another mission with compatible munitions. Squadrons may only have a certain amount of racks available. The rack would probably also need the data cables and disconnects capped. It's probably far easier to mount/dismount the rack than perform the conversion maintenance. As far as realism is concerned, that's how they load it:

The GBU-12s in that pic are on a TER like we already have in the sim. They are far closer together and at a different angle than the JDAMS on the other wing.

They can be used on the Hornet because clearance issues are less of a problem.
The reason you can't have 3 GBU-12s on the TER is because its too close to whatever is on the inboard pylon, the same applies to the BRU-57.

That's pretty cool... Might be worth finding some more pics of it and requesting a seperate wish list item for it.

Here's another one.

That's however a LAU-68 which we don't have on the Viper in the sim I think. We have the LAU-3 which is a 19 rocket pod rather then being a 7 rocket pod like the LAU-68.

oh, ok. thanks.

Yup, the Navy and Air Force use different racks based on the BRU-33, all are pretty much identical from the outside.

BRU-33 is a US Navy double rack with no smart weapon capabilities, and is used by the Hornet for carrying doubles of Paveways, CBU-99s, slick bombs, and rocket pods.

BRU-55 is a US Navy double weapon smart rack, based on the BRU-33 with 1760 data lines added.

BRU-57 is a US Air Force double weapon smart rack, also based on the BRU-33.

The US Air force uses the TER-9 for carrying multiples of weapons that don't require a data connection. There are also data-enabled smart versions of the TER-9 that can carry three GBU-38/54s.
