Hello all,

I am returning Viggen player but I am stumped on the Rb15. I follow Chucks guide on this (mayby outdated?). I fly to the M waypoint, wtih ANF selected, looking for the ships. I find them before reaching M-waypoint. I set a target fix with Bx8 (T1, TV then T0). According to Chucks the other missile waypoints should be auto generated and only Bx7 should show up on the radar. There does appear a cross but way to the right of my flightpath and even before the M-waypoint. After setting the Bx8 point I switch back to M-waypoint and go weapon hot (but red light comes on upper left of radar display indicating something is out of parameters). I have the distance markers displayed on HUD (but I think they show distance to M-waypoint and not Bx8). M-waypoint is some 40 km in front of Bx8 so my missiles have the range to target (70km?). I release the missiles but they go straight ahead like in Quickrelease and do not stear to Bx8. After mayby 20 km they are gone (selfdestruct?).

I am not seeing anyone else with Rb15 issues so I guess it's me doing something wrong but I have no idea what. Any help appreciated.

Sounds like you are getting the correct Bx8 circle and Bx7 cross.  By default, Bx7 is off to the right so the missile doesn't fly directly toward the target at first and instead flies a "dogleg", I guess to conceal its intentions or something.  I think this was a design choice by HB, but I'm not sure.

If you don't like the dogleg, select Bx7 and do a new radar fix.  Be aware that in the Dec 23, 2021 open beta, two bugs were introduced that affect fixes: the cursor starts on the right edge of the screen for a radar fix, and you have to hit T0 after TV to complete the fix.

For the launch parameters, I would suggest selecting Bx7 as your destination (in ANF mode of course), not the M point.  The range information on the HUD will be relative to the missile's full path through Bx7 to Bx8 (either that or it's for a direct path to Bx8 no matter which you have selected, I'm not 100% sure of this).

According to the manual, you can also fire directly at the direction of the target in either NAV or recon master mode. Fire after safety off.

Yes. When you do that it uses different radar and target assumptions.  It will hit the first thing it finds within a certain angular offset at any range along its path (maybe with a minimum range limit), rather than selecting a random target in the vicinity of Bx8.

Yes I got that working but I like to make things complicated 🙂

Why would you want to use a smart weapon in dumb mode? 🤔  The more waypoints the better I say!

Hmm update. I found a solution to my Rb15 problems. The solution was to actually use Rb15’s and stop trying to get Rb04’s to behave like Rb15’s. 🤫

Although there is an issue with Bx7. As known when you first select Bx7 the white cross starts off way to the right. After T1 and repositioning the cross, press TV and T0, the white cross jumps back to it’s original position. The repositioned location is remembered though so the yellow marker on the radar ring keeps pointing to it.

I had a very similar situation yesterday, but unfortunately I have no more track available.

This issue is known and tracked. I submitted report to HB for it a week or two ago.
