Fish Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) EDITED (additions in red) Hi all, I've been using the reverb since i bought it back in 2019, and am constantly trying to refine the performance, as new versions of WMR, SteamVR and DCS come out. I've seen various comments about pixel density and Resolution multiplier, and how they do the 'same' thing. I'm not sure i agree with this based on my experience (and perhaps there is a setting I am missing). I get the best results with the PD and CR as indicated with the PD lowest, and the CR highest or high, but only when Motion Vector is enabled in SteamVR. Below are my settings and specs. Pixel density in DCS world to 0.5 Custom resolution multiplier in Steam VR to 400% (5408X5228) Motion Smoothing enabled in Steam VR, Override World scale set to OFF, in Steam VR. Motion Vector (I believe this is called motion reprojection) is 'enabled' in steam VR. (Can only be set inside VR in Steam VR) A few points are worthy of note 2,3,4 above should be set using the steam VR 'per application' setting when DCS is running in VR. FPS will appear to be maxed at 45, but switching off Motion Vector, displays higher FPS but significantly more stuttering. 500% resolution multiplier gives the best 'clarity' to the image (with PD 0.5), displaying what the headset is capable of. If FPS (probably not actually the best measure of performance) is gets too low, then try reducing the resolution multiplier quality settings in DCS. I suspect the original Reverb and the G2 and G2 V2 can be considered the same as they use the same rendering technology and software. Good measure of smooth performance is if i can pan my head left and right in the cockpit, and the image is smooth and not 'stepping'. I have highlighted some of the DCS settings which have significant impact on performance. My system Specs HP Reverb V1. DCS on NVMe drive, 32gb Ram, 8700k @ 4.9ghz, RTX 2080ti. If you are going to try these settings, i suggest that you take a note of your existing settings so you can get back to where you were. Pd0.5 and 400% in steam produces exactly the same resolution, clarity , and performance as PD1.0 and steam 100% this has been proven over and over again. I can get 17.6-18.4ms frame times, sitting on the ground on Syria map at Incirlik, mirrors off, with the above settings, but that's not relevant to anyone except me. A point I was trying to express, is that with those settings, game works best for 'ME', and could be used as a starting point for others trying to setup their VR. The other point which may have been lost, and which was a big surprise, for me, is that Motion Vector makes a huge difference to my experience (smoothness), which is not reflected in the 'measured performance (frame time/frame rate), due I'm guessing to the nature of the underlying process of estimating dropped frames. For me, ON gives me a much smoother performance than off. There maybe trade offs i'm not aware, but have found none so far.
