QuiGon Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I just saw this screenshot and noticed a display/indicator that I've never seen before and don't know what it does. I'm talking about this squarish display/indicator to the left of the altimeter. It looks like it shows headings at the top (from -45° to +45°), but I don't know what it does exactly. Maybe @The_Fragger or someone else here can explain? Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I should have thought of something like this, as we have similar instruments in the Mi-8 and Mi-24 in DCS. Those Russian helos have dedicated doppler radars to supply position/movement data to the SHI (or whatever it was called in the russian helos). How does the SHI in the Bo 105 obtain its data? In the description of the MEM Caution Light (14.) it says, that there is a radar portion of the navigation set. Is this a dedicated doppler radar like in the russian helos or is it just a (beefed up) radar altimeter or is it something entirely different? At least it seems like the SHI does not depend on the INS.
