Hello there.

Not sure if this has been asked before. I have a WinWing Orion hotas, which has a 2 way switch labeled for the parking break. I know the F-16 has a 3 way Anti-Skid switch. My plan is to bind it so that 'up' is 'Anti-Skid Switch - Parking Brake', and down is 'Anti-Skid Switch - Anti-Skid'. I can bind the 'Parking Brake' no problem, when when I bind 'Anti-Skid Switch - Anti-Skid' It doesn't work. My work around is to Bind 'Parking Break' and 'Anti-Skid Switch - Down' bind. It kind of works, but not as well as I'd like. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone tried to bind Anti-Skid to a 2 way switch? I don't really see the need for the 'Off' position, so the 2 way switch should be fine...

Thanks for insight

So with your plan, you would always be in either "Parking Brake" or "Anti-Skid" mode. Does that make sense?

Yeah, that's what I plan. But I can't get the Anti-Skid selection to work... Why, should I be flying in the Off position? I just always assumed people flew in Anti-Skid.

The anti-skid switches in the Hornet and in the Warthog also have the OFF position, and there is probably a reason for it. There may be operational situations (e.g. a defect in the anti-skid system), where you need to disable the anti-skid function and where you do not want to switch to Parking brake. The F/A-18C guide for example states that anti-skid is not used in carrier operations.
I did a test: For the Viper, I bound each of the 3 switch positions to a pushbutton and found that there is an interlock. You can go from Anti-Skid directly to Parking Brake, but you cannot do the reverse. From Parking Brake you have to go to OFF first, and then you can go to Anti-Skid. That's why you cannot switch to Interlock with your preferred set-up-
Strangely, this interlock does not exist when you operate the switch with the mouse.

PS: I could think of a lua edit that might make the 2-way switch work, but it's probably not worth it.

Out of curiosity I tried to create a single command binding that would set the switch in the cockpit very briefly to "OFF" and then to "Anti-Skid". And it seems to work.
It requires addition of this line of code to the file "default.lua":

{down = gear_commands.AntiSkidSw_EXT, pressed = gear_commands.AntiSkidSw_EXT, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = -1.0, value_pressed = 0.0, name = _('ANTI-SKID Switch To ANTI-SKID via OFF'), category = {_('Left Auxiliary Console')}},

This will create a new command "ANTI-SKID Switch To ANTI-SKID via OFF" which you need to bind in lieu of the original command "ANTI-SKID Switch - ANTI-SKID".
It's a deviation from realism, but given the fact that most of us don't have spare 3-position switches it won't weigh on my conscience.

Does anyone know if the requirement to go from parking break, to off, to anti-skid is realistic to the actual aircraft? I mean, I can just use the mouse if I need to, I just thought since the switch is there on the orion, I'd set it up how I use it 99% of the time, which is either as the parking break, or the anti-skid...

In the real aircraft, the 3 position switch is from off-anti skid-parking brake. Off is not in the center position. 1f0152c8dce1721ba8d47bd855f2a82.png

I'm sorry, I also read your original post and I just don't understand what are you struggling with. I have orion hotas as well. I just bind parking brake (DCS) to praking brake on my 2 way swtich, and anti-skid (DCS) to off on my 2 way swtich. Works like a charm. I don't bother turning anti-skid off in-game since I don't see the reason to.

Just in case you are wondering, DCS F-16's anti-skid function has not been implemented yet, but it will be in the future. Nevertheless, you can just bind the keys to the orion 2 way swtich like I do now. It works (for parking brake) and will work in the future once ED implementes anti-skid for the F-16.

That's exactly what I want to do on my Orion, but it does not work. When I bind the off position of the switch to 'anti skid' it will not move the switch in game. If I bind it to 'off', it works... I can't figure out why.

Doesn`t seem to work correctly even using KB. Suspect something is bugged with the binds. As things stand there seem to be 2 means of moving switch down but none that will move to the full up parking brake on position. At least for me.

Let me check my bindings for you after I got home.

Still bugged. With mouse you can go parking brake -> anti-skid but with hotas bindings you need to go parking brake -> off -> anti-skid. Seems anti-skid position is locked out until go all the way to off first. "anti-skid" position binding does not react unless you are in off position first. Kind of makes no sense because anti-skid is the middle position so you should be able to go just 1 click down from parking brake like you can when clicking with a mouse, no?
