RepoManR6 Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any written tutorials or downloadable templates for creating SAM sites. I know there are videos out there but it would be nice to have something for a user to have the ability to create something simple to complex and what units are needed with an element of understanding. I know there are videos out there but some of them lack information on what you are actually doing for the "why." Also some of them are lengthy. It would be nice if there was a guide or manual including unit profiles etc. The DCS World manual I don't think has been updated in some time. Questions: From my understanding at the minimum you need a radar, then launchers for something basic. Correct? Do you need a command unit? What are some some standalone SAM units? I'm assuming if they are under "player driveable" they can act on their own. Forgive my lack of knowledge on this. of this concept. Most video I found people are creating really complex large sites. Thanks. Edited February 11, 2022 by RepoManR6 Evolve Art Studio | https://creativevisions.art 10th Mountain Division - 1-87, TF Summit
AdrianL Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 For detailed analysis http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Rus-SAM-Site-Configs-A.html http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Rus-SAM-Site-Configs-B.html You can look at BOOM's Syria Map Template for examples. The templates have a lot of various SAM setups, based on actual setup in Syria https://www.dcshangar.com/packages/xYq8PNjsy.lC7nYWjGJ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3318963/

Whenever I'm going to start editing a new mission, I pay attention to those mission aspects that could be used in the future on new missions, and then I begin by editing these aspects first, "packing" them as Static Templates, leaving the more specific mission items for last. For example, I'm currently editing a mission for the JAS-39 on the Marianas map and needed a SAM site to practice the anti-radar missiles .. so I did the Site first and saved it as a Static Template, like this: You can see that I selected a terrain sector that lends itself for a SAM site .. later I will build the rest of the mission around this.
