Jetliner Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I waited a long time to get into the F16 as it’s my favorite plane of all time and I wanted to make sure I had time to dedicate to learning it. That time has come and I’ve been starting all the training missions - however much to my disappointment they are very poor. It seems you’re kind of directed toward the manual to get all the basics down and only supposed to use these to implement it all but that wasn’t my idea of training. Maybe I’m the asshole here haha. Even then either it’s extremely buggy or I am doing something wrong. Radar contacts rarely appear until they are quite close and locking them is a whole different issue. Once they pop up on radar (only within about 20nm) trying to lock them with TMS up (or TMS right in the TWS mode) only works about 50% of the time. Then in the same TWS training it tries to tell me that I’ll be able to tell what bandits my wingmen are attacking via the datalink? I waited a long time to see something that would identify that and finally just fired my missile only to see we all engaged the same plane. Am I using training for the wrong reasons? Are these more “practice” or is the training just not a focus until it’s feature complete and I should turn to good ol fashion reading.
Solution _SteelFalcon_ Posted February 17, 2022 Solution Posted February 17, 2022 there's multiple bug reports regarding the radar in RWS and TWS and issues with locking the target since the latest update. sadly there's not much you can do right now.
Jetliner Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 Awe man bad time to decide to finally fly the 16. When I do manage to get TWS to work, the 120s just usually end up flying after the same target as well. Drats

But I’ve done exclusively air to ground planes all along. I was either going to learn the 15 or 16 as my first air to air platform.
MadKreator Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Been learning the a-10 recently. F-16 has been my go to for along time. Hopped in it last night on MP and noticed RWS was being buggy and dropping contacts a lot. Never used to be this way, its always been the easiest to lock and track contacts imo. It was a dream come true after learning the f-18 and fiddling with is complexity ( radar wise). Must be bugged, used to be no prob tracking from 40 miles and never losing lock or track ( assuming azimuth/ antenna elevation etc are where they’re supposed to be). F-16 has always been quite fluid. Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones
Chibawang Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 I too waited until now to learn the F-16, not wanting to spoil my experience with an early alpha module. The training missions are admittedly pretty weak and sparse... I assume they are still WIP, but on the back burner. I'm getting used to the radar issues, when they finally fix them I will feel all the more powerful. Besides, I mostly die to other F-16s, so I can't complain.
RafaPolit Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Not sure if I should start a new topic, but on the training sessions topic, on training: Lesson 9 - Air-Air ACM and HMCS You go through the motions, and after you get the missile, there is no further communication with the coach. No: "Good job, that's it", no: "Great, land at Gaudata", no: "Move on to waipoint 4 for extra encounters", nothing. You are left hanging. Also, since the addition of the radar modes, some instructions like : "click the button twice" now requires three clicks, which is something that should get updated when new things are implemented. Should this be in a new topic? It's a bug report for sure. I'm Dragon in the Multiplayer servers.

If you fire your other missiles, or use your last missile on the anti ship missile - you get a mission failed dialogue saying you're out of ammo and cant destroy the remaining targets but it never progresses to those other targets. The Maverick mission has issues too. The OSB takes 3 presses to get to "Area" mode and the mav still always aims at whats beyond the bridge they have you destroying no matter where I try to aim so its not progressable either.
