I've spent countless hours trying to get my JTAC to archive my desired goals with no luck.

The Goal

  1. Jtac designates the two targets in Zone 1
  • PT-76 is the priority 1 ; with WP
  • Troops priority 2; with WP

Once the all targets in Zone 1 are destoryed, JTac proceeds to Waypoint 3

2. Jtac designates the two targets in Zone 2

  • BTRs are the first priority; with WP
  • Troops second priority; with WP

This is a demo I've created to get a better understanding of how to set this up.

My Demo map is using the Syria map. I'd appreciate any and all help!

Thanks!

Leif

I understand how to set up tasks, enroute tasks, priorities, stop conditions etc. but for the life of me I can't get this Reaper to see the PT-76 at all. I've looked and it's simpler than what you've tried so far.

Reapers with tasks to FAC automatically orbit so there's no need for a separate orbit task. As soon as the group FAC assigned was deactived the task auto finishes so you don't even have to set up another trigger. The only, only, only part I can't get is for the thing to see the thing.

I'm not completely married to the idea of having to use the PT-76, I selected that unit since I'm planning to design a mission w that faction.  I just tried the mission and switched out the PT-76 with a T-55 and still had the same results. The T-55 do not get tasked at all.  I'm okay with simplifying the waypoints too.

I'm also open to any other suggestions. I'd like to get some form of Reaper Jtac working. Thanks again for your help!

I could help, but with your mission and using the Syria map is a no go for my setup. At the moment, I am getting single digit frame rates and unplayable delays with most missions and maps.

I haven't played with JTAC for a while, but I usually find that letting the "Reaper / Predator" search for the targets with standard "JTAC -a" or "JTAC - Engage Group" might lead to the JTAC just not seeing certain targets, so I use the specific "JTAC - Asssign Group" commands for all the groups you want targeted.

Possible causes.

  1. Bad AI just has poor eyeball simulation, as is prevalent in Ka-50 and some other helicopters.
  2. Line of sight:- Blocked by trees, excessive distance (LOS not that much of an issue with the airborne drones)
  3. Type of weather created due to: Time of day, How darkish or overcast it is with clouds casting shadows.
  4. Reaper too far from target (Keep distance to targets within 5km), Reaper flying to high (Try keeping altitude between 2-3km), Most of these limitations are because of LOS and max distance of LASER and IR emitters.
  5. Make sure the JTAC advanced commands have all the correct callsigns and frequencies set, they are defaulted to "Axeman 1-1, 133mhz, am", regardless of what the REAPER DRONE UNIT is actually designated. (ie: Pontiac 1-1, 30mhz, FM).
  6. Few bugs I have seen that are hard to nail down, LOS issues when ground JTAC when it is right next to enemy targets, ie 100m and still doesn't see it.

Regards, Ian.

There seems to be a bug with some units !? ... Here an example on caucasus - A10cII player on ground (set VHF to 133.00 at start, then contact JTAC 'on zone in X minutes') and rapier JTAC in the vicinity of a LT-PT76 armored russian unit. The JTAC will respond 'no task available - leave the zone' (approx ^^), meaning he doesn't see unit, while the "FAC attack group" task makes the group visible (wherever he is) and effectively the JTAC does orbit around the unit (seeing it in fact).

But if you change the unit for a BTR80 everything is ok (JTAC answers 'be ready to note 9-line (approx ^^) ).
