Mike Force Team Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Right to fly the B-17. I got my flight maps, bomber jacket, and gloves.
Callsign112 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 I wonder if there would be any interest for ED itself to consider the possibility of lending support for projects like this. It would be really great to see stuff like this make it into DCS World. 1
Evoman Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 What makes the Lancaster project very interesting is that it will be the first multi-engine and multi-crew of 7 to be in DCS. It is nice to see new groups trying to develop their passion project to share it with a community that will appreciate them just as much. No, doubt that this project will pave the way for a future B-17 and other aircraft. 3
Callsign112 Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Yes multi-crew, but I think the Mosquito beat it to the multi-engine milestone. But I was just wondering if ED would consider grooming some of the talent that obviously already exists in the mod community. Its obvious that ED has a lot on its plate, and I wonder if this wouldn't be a viable way to increase productivity/output. Have the various mod teams do most of the leg work, with input/oversight from ED to ensure each project be it air/navy/army modules maintains the desired standard. 1

Nineline is in our Lancaster Discord and seems to want to help where he can. The main issue that we will face will come later down the line when we get to syncing the network stuff and working on the air to ground radar system, most of which is capable with ED's SDK but I believe that requires legal documents and aircraft licensing and all that 1 Minor Lancaster Fanboy

It seems to me that the modding community is largely an untapped source of talent, and joining forces with ED could be a real fruitful proposition. 1

Possibly but making it a payed for module means that we need a license from BAE systems (Ex Avro) which I've heard could be in the thousands of pounds. It also requires setting up a business and getting legal bits done from what I understand but we fill the requirements apart from that. Possibly something we can look into when we get towards release or after release getting the air to ground radar working 1 Minor Lancaster Fanboy
