solved DCS client hangs

When launching the DCS client software it hangs about 50% of the times. It also freezes the system without any way to get out of it.
I had  this lockout a few times in the past hour.

This appears to happen right before it launches the big screen.

My system:
5950x
Dark Hero
1080ti
32GB

Happens to me a lot too. I have to restart my computer every time it happens.

Now I notice that it only happens after I close DCS and reopen. The only way out of this is a restart (with the power button since every thing else is frozen).

OK, looks like it fails on the last line (duh!):

2022-03-17 13:10:33.682 INFO    DXGUI_WIN_ADAPTER: ChangeDisplaySettings failed! Result is -1

Now the quick fix should be to remove the file (back it up somewhere else first) \saved games\dcs\config\options.lua and try again - note that you'll have to redo all your graphic and game options (controls are safe).

If you were able to run the game before you can also rename \saved games\DCS or \DCS.openbeta folder to DCS.temp and start the DCS again. You can then start recovering controls and other files from the DCS.temp backup folder.

Last but not least - set your windows pagefile to 32GB fixed size (both min and max value).
