dresoccer4 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Hey there! I just started learning the awesome F-14. Wanted to see if the Autopilot is working as intended at the moment? Specifically the AP altitude hold? i'm following Chuck's guide to the T however after flying straight and level and enabling the AP master and AP altitude then pressing autopilot reference, the plane lights up a/p ref and takes over, entering a -300fpm descent. No matter if I enable AP in a light climb or straight and level., the AP will take me into a gentle descent. Lt_Jaeger Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Nah, AP is currently looked at. The problems are known and should be rectified soon (I hope) 1
winghunter Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 (edited) Its broken but you can make it work Fly several seconds as level as possible using trim (not stick) and engage the AP reference. If it fails due to initial trim getting outside of 100 vspeed/sec ,re-trim level and try again Edited March 14, 2022 by winghunter DCS Web Editor - New 3D Mission Editor for DCS that runs in your browser DCS Web Viewer free browser based mission planner 4090 RTX, 13700KF, water cooled, Quest 3
IronMike Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 We're generally done with the AP overhaul, so the new one is coming in this patch. ACLS needs to be finished afterwards and unfortunately we have to push a tiny hotfix for HDG hold after the patch, but we're quite pleased with the new AP. It is modeled after the real system including its limitation and in the future will not be prone to FM changes anymore. 6 5 Heatblur Simulations Please feel free to contact me anytime, either via PM here, on the forums, or via email through the contact form on our homepage. http://www.heatblur.com/ https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

It kinda matches, if you regard the +/-200FPM not as a hard coded limitation, but a best practice procedure. You really should not engage it outside of it. The difference before basically was that we had it as a requirement, because this was pilot procedure. However the real autopilot did not have such limit. Use outside of these limits at your own peril. 1 Heatblur Simulations Please feel free to contact me anytime, either via PM here, on the forums, or via email through the contact form on our homepage. http://www.heatblur.com/ https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
