I know I've made a blunder here, and it's probably very easy to fix.....LoL.

Recently with help from support (brilliant!) I made the move from the STEAM version of DCS 2.7 to the standalone version. Previously, I had also moved my "Save Games" folder from the default location on my C drive to the E drive which I have dedicated to DCS.

When I made the change to the Standalone version, I then migrated the Save Games folder to the root of the new installation. Thus, I have two folders:

DCS World Open Beta

Saved Games. Within this folder is another folder named: "DCS Openbeta" with all of the usual folders for add ons.

I get a feeling that I have just nested the folders incorrectly, and perhaps a folder move will just fix everything up. Can somebody advise me please?

Many thanks,

Andrew. 🙂

I’d love to advise, but please can you describe in more detail how exactly you moved the Saved Games folder, both times?

More than happy to:

Usually the Saved Games folder resides in:

C:\Users\(Username)\Saved Games. If you right-click on the folder and select Properties and then Location you have the option to move the entire folder to a new location of your choice.

This is a very handy feature, because most people keep only system files on a C drive, and this stops your User Profile from growing too large. And of course, if the User Profile grows too much, it causes Windows to load up more slowly.

I hope that this helps.

Andrew.

ok, sorry but I had to ask, you’d be amazed at how many people moves it just by cut/paste 🙂

going back to your original question:

"When I made the change to the Standalone version, I then migrated the Save Games folder to the root of the new installation. Thus, I have two folders:

if I understand correctly, you want to place /saved Games/ inside of "/DCS World Openbeta/" .. while this can be done, using the procedure that you describe, I would refrain from doing so … I dont put extra stuff inside the DCS program folder, that could confuse the DCS repair utility (your old Steam version didnt use that utility, as it used Steam’s own integrity check).

so, I’d leave things just as you have them now, it should work perfectly well.

Appreciate the advice, and follow what you are saying. But my add on A-4 is still not visible in the sim. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I will display my directory structure. Thanks again for your help 🙂

I did the same but I have a folder under Saved Games called DCS.openbeta and all those folders you list above under Saved Games are under that DCS.openbeta folder including another DCS.openbeta folder

🙂

So in the root level of "Saved Games" the only folder below that is DCS.openbeta?

Looks like as I suspected, nested folders, but not sure I should move and overwrite. I have a couple of  duplicates, and the folders all have the same modify date. Please note this is only in the Saved Games folder, and not DCS itself.

Are you experiencing the same issue as me Baldrick?

Thanks 🙂

No, mine works perfectly!

I think you just need to create a folder called temp under Saved Games, move all your other folders currently under Saved Games to under temp. Then rename temp to DCS.openbeta

yes, you need a dcs.openbeta folder within saved games. As @Baldrick33 says, create within /saved games/ a temporary folder, then MOVE into it all the folders that you currently have at Saved Games. Now start DCS, it will create a default dcs.openbeta folder by itself, it may ask for your user credentials.

Next exit DCS and restore from the temporary folder the following folders:

config

kneeboard

liveries

MissionEditor

Missions

Mods

Screenshots

Scripts

Tracks

Next, start DCS once more and it should work ok, it will update some folders by itself, like fxo and metashaders
