New flight model causing uncontrollable wobbling at high speed- intended?

Intended 🙂

Description:

(Latest Open Beta Patch)

When going ~M1.7 then reducing speed, an uncontrollable wobble occurs causing the pilot to black out in level flight.

Was able to reproduce this behavior on multiple servers every time I attempted to reproduce.

Reproduce steps:

Come down in a vertical dive from high altitude to gain speed in full burner, level off. The plane will begin to shake uncontrollably in level flight without input from the stick causing the pilot to lose control/black out.

Reducing speed to M0.94 stops the wobble.

Video:

Is this intended behavior (ie the FCS cant handle flight conditions)?

I did not have this issue doing this kind of maneuver on the old flight model.

-Thanks!

Which altitude do you have? Vne is Mach 1.2 at sea level, going up to Mach 2 at 30k. You would need to be at 22k to fly Mach 1.7and that doesn't look that way according to publicly available charts. At 10k it is Mach 1.5.

Can't check though, I am on the phone in my lunch break. But the limit for speedbrakes is Mach 1.4 otherwise oscillating might occur so this looks not weird to me.

It looks like you are way above Vne.

No speedbrakes were used; just showing level flight with no input.

Yes, but you were way above Vne?

I am just curious if this is something that happens within normal flight envelope or outside of the limits. Outside is difficult to say, may be right, may be wrong.

Ah gotcha; In the video/track it shows the onset of the 'wobble' is at Mach 1.66 at 4,600ft. Slowing to ~ Mach 0.93 stops the wobble.

So if this is expected behavior then, and just more realism: Neat attention to detail on ED's part 😄

Does anyone know if they messed with flcs too . Now the curves that I had applied feel very sluggish.

That is actually amazing.

Hi,

this is correct as is and intended when going over maximum airspeed limit

thanks

Thanks! I don't know if you (ED) did any behind the scenes optimization, but after the latest patch the F16 has insanely good performance in VR compared to before, compliments to the chef! 😄
