Check this thread, more than one player confirmed this fact

And the trk file below is a simple test replay, I locked the F18 at 30nm, but others say they have a shorter lock distance

But in the game's official manual, this mode has a max lock-on distance of 40nm, and we're all wondering if this is intentional or a simple bug

From the manual

LACQ: Auto acquisition of targets out to 40 nm that are within the reticle using MPRF.
If attempting to slew the radar outside of radar gimbal limits, the HACQ/LACQ symbol will flash.
To break an ACM HMD lock, press the Undesignate button

but detection and lock ranges are not necessarily the same, the maximum is 40nm

I will ask the team to check also but initial thoughts are I don't see any issue.

I have also had a hard time locking onto targets with the LHAQ WELL within 40nm and well within the gimbal limit.   Literally had targets on my nose from 20-15nm and still had a hard time locking it.

Personally I think this should be investigated further.  Especially considering others have had similar experience.
