DCS Open Beta Game Crash (MP)

Hello,

Hoping to get some help here. Its been a while that my game is crashing over and over again specially in Multiplayer. Sometimes its doesn't crash when I am hosting but it crashes right after take off in other servers. For the most part, we can say the game crashes almost every time I join (and start flying) in MP.

I am getting ACCESS_VIOLATION errors in the logs over different files like VCRUNTIME140.dll, edCore.dll, dx11backend.dll, nvwgf2umx.dll. I have attached logs.

I have reinstalled the game, swapped RAM sticks, reinstalled windows, have faced many blue screens in between which apparently got fixed after swapping one of the 8GB RAM sticks with a new one but game crashes are persistent. I got 3060 a few months ago and there weren't any issues right away but after a month or so I began experiencing the game crashes. Never had crashes before and now the game is unplayable. My system specs are as follows:

Ryzen5 2600X, ASROCK B450M Pro4, Nvidia 3060, 16GB RAM, OS-256GB NVME, DCS 500GB SSD (SATA3). Updated BIOS to latest version last night, the game ran fine when I hosted with two players, no crashes for several rounds. Connected to another server and the game crashed every time.

Any help, hints and I will be grateful.....:/

Just to add, the game does not crash when I am spectating.

@aeikme DCS detects a very small 2GB pagefile. Even though I don't see any "E_OUTOFMEMORY" message in your log, please try this:

In your case, you want to use these pagefile settings:

Initial size: 16384 (16GB)

Max size: 32768 (32GB)

In case your PC only has HDDs, don't do this. A pagefile needs a fast drive (2.5" SSD or NVMe).

Thanks @Flappie for pointing out the pagefile. I should have mentioned that the logs attached are a few days apart. One of them says 2GB pagefile and the other says 12GB (right now its 12 and 32) but you are still recommending more (16GB) I shall increase it and then try. C drive is nvme (OS) and DCS is installed in the SSD (SATA3). Does page file has to be on the OS drive or the DCS drive? 😐

Note: I never had pagfile set even after getting the 3060, the crashes started sometime after. Set it as below a few days ago when crashes became frequent.

To answer your question, the pagefile is more efficient when stored on your fastest drive. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter if DCS and the pagefile are part of the same drive.

Your new log shows the "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" message right before the crash. It means the game was unable to access the GPU. Sometimes, users seeing this have a graphic driver issue, sometimes they need to lower CPU/GPU overclocking or lower their RAM XMP setting.

Ok so could this be a GPU issue? 😞 Whats the best way to be sure if my GPU is giving up on me?

I put back one of the 'apparently fine 8 GB (3000MHz) stick' with a new one 8 GB (3200MHz) both set at 3000MHz in BIOS, changed the page file to 24-64GB (as 1.5 times of 16gb and 4 times of 16gb) but the game still crashes on a public servers that are heavily loaded (Marianas, pretty jammed pack server) Logs attached, I found "ERROR   EDCORE: No suitable driver found to mount mods/terrains/marianaislands/assets/assetstextures.zip" Looks like GPU is failing? Note: I am mostly able to host with 3,4 players without issues as such (may be crash once) Similarly, worked fine today on a friend's local server with 4 people.

I have had numerous BSODs as well in the last week (the most I have ever seen in my life) but not really during DCS (DCS simply crashes without a BSOD) From the minidumps, the point of failures (BSODs) are ntoskrnl.exe, win32kbase.sys, Ntfs.sys. Most recent BSOD was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA at 0x00000050 (I think that was when I had put back 16 GB RAM and pagefile was still at 12GB-32GB)

Sorry, I seriously lack free time, these days.

If you're having BSOD, it means your system is hurt somewhere. You should test your RAM using MemTest86. All you need is a USB stick.

If you don't see red lines fter an hour of MemTest, consider your RAM is OK. If so, try a DCS repair.
