How to get top speed?

So far, I have only been able to achieve speed at roughly 130-150. However, during some missions I'm told to achieve 250 but for the life of me can't figure out how to get speed any higher. Anybody have suggestions?

just put the nose down further. The black shark can get to top speed pretty quick.

That is what I thought, but I have tried that and top speed I can get is sometime 171. I must be doing something else wrong.

Do you have your units in imperial or metric? 171 knots is just a little higher than 300 km/h. The Russians work in metric so they would be giving you a speed in km/h.

Cyclic forward, collective up, you'll be going fast in no time.

Is your landing gear down still? That may add a bit of drag, although from what I can tell not much.

Turned out I was just using the different measurements, I was going top speed. Thanks everybody!

SlyBelle, as soon as you hit Vmax ( which can differ under different enviromental parametes ) you will hear a high pitch tone and see a "V" blinking in your HUD. Thats the warning for lowering your speed as you going too fast.

Close to SAM then you will be know how to get speed :D
