nachomaga Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Slowhand, like Eric Clapton, hehehe... 1920x1200 in a 24" LG monitor. But like others said, SLI is not useful for this game. I try with Crysis, Call od Duty... and you really notice the SLI performance.
Amuro Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 slowhand, does it happen for other games? And have you tried the latest 182.50 drivers? Also, I would not SLI the 8500GTs. You'd be better off with a single higher end card. hitman Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I suggest testing each card individually to make sure none are artifacting. That doesnt look like any driver error Ive ever seen, but it looks more like a massive failure of some kind. If each card is fine, I would either suspect the bridge or the board itself. You should also go as far as checking your gpu temps and confirm the fans are working.
JG14_Smil Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 hello, I have done a lot of testing this morning with my ATI 4870 x2 setup. Doing my testing in the 159th server (it was empty or near it) to rule out any MP fps drop, flying the Battle of Essentuki mission as blue 'Charger 3', I would land at the FARP and check my fps. I repeated the following results several times to make sure it was no fluke. without x-fire enabled I would lose 20 fps or so when landed. Shvkal use (aimed at horizon) would drop me to 29-30 fps. With x-fire enabled, I get 60 fps landed at the FARP. Same Shkval at the horizon and I get 50-60 fps. As I stated, I repeated this several times to make sure I was seeing right. There are no flickering clouds for me in this mission, though I have seen them in the Instant Action mission when in x-fire mode. I also messed with the ATI Overdrive, but I am running without it at the default timings (do not try changing #3 and #4 4870 timings as bad things happen when I tried). I should also note that I had some lower scores (as low as the 20's fps) until I experimented with ATI settings. there is no substitute for high fps :)
Feuerfalke Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 You lose 20 fps from what, when landed? Maybe it's again the OS that makes the difference? Are you running XP or Vista/Win7, Smil? JG14_Smil Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) sorry I did not include more info. (please note I am just reporting what I saw and don't really care if SLI works or not...) The 'landing' part really doesn't matter... I just used it to rule out variables when taking fps measurements (same view and Shkval target area). Also, the landing pads usually are where I see lowest fps in missions. I am using vista 64 bit, i7 dual quad core, 4870x2, a ton of ram. I use d3dover-rider to get vsync for the TIR. I lost a nominal 20 fps when I disabled Crossfire; I entered mission in flight, in the haze, turned back and landed at the FARP. While up in the haze, I had the biggest fps hits. I saw fps ranges from the 20's and 30's through some tests and finally ended up geting 50's tp 60 fps when I finished. My ATI CCC settings are: - crossfire enabled - ATI Overdrive - unlocked. I experimented enabling ATI OD and after using 'Auto-tune' and 'Test Custom clocks', I came up with 752MHz and 990MHz on my first two 4870. Increasing the #3 and #4 4870 timings made the system crash hard and I would not suggest trying it. I did note a FPS increase with ATI OD, but note that when I disabled it, I still have high fps in the MP mission I tested. - AA is 8X, Box (these settings appeared to affect fps the most) - AF is 16X - Cat Ai is Standard - Mipmap detail is High Quality - vsync is OFF (d3d OR takes care of it) - adaptive AA is on Quality - OpenGL triple buffer is off. In BS, all is on highest detail, except for water on '0' best picture quality comes from 16x Wide Tent AA, but it costs some fps. When landed, I aimed the Shkval at the same area and noted the fps results. oh, I am using DCSMax 1.4, a great app. Edited April 6, 2009 by JG14_Smil
