WelshZeCorgi Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Hi, I often play RIO in a squad with real people, so one of my responsibilities in the back seat is looking over the pilots seat and making sure all the switches and levers are where they need to be and that none of the caution lights are lit before Taxi, takeoff or combat. But it seems that there are some instruments that do not sync between front seat and back seat, namely the Attitude indicator, as the flag always seems to be on in the back even when the pilot has unlocked it from his perspective. As well as the warning lights, where I think half of the warning lights remain on despite a full start up. The pilots do not see any warning lights on the panel, but I do. Is this fixable or was this done to improve performance in the backseat?
RustBelt Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Why don’t you let your pilot pilot? Once a RIO is strapped in, you aren’t seeing much of the front cockpit. Run a checklist with the pilot, but don’t be a back seat driver man. 1
WelshZeCorgi Posted August 27, 2022 Author Posted August 27, 2022 (edited) I'm literally being instructed to do this, by the pilots in our squad. Why don't you calm down? Edited August 27, 2022 by WelshZeCorgi
kablamoman Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 The ones I can remember off the top of my head as not syncing up for the back seater: Emergency Wing Sweep Lever/Cover Master Caution Annunciator Standby Attitude Indicator (always flagged) Standby Altimeter Flag Caution Panel Lights Elevation Lead Panel Most are of course pretty minor, but also a bit odd considering lots of other little things seem to sync properly. Can be a bit confusing when running as a crew, especially when the guy in the front is still learning and you're trying to help out. Maybe there's a limit to how many items they can sync? 1

Does that single brain cell rattling around in your head need a RIO to crosscheck your critical thinking skills? Edited August 29, 2022 by WelshZeCorgi 1
RustBelt Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Good CRM babying your pilot. The RIO has their own work to do, a crew isn’t a pilot and a backup other pilot. It’s a Pilot and a RIO. You have your call and response before takeoff, fence in/out, and Before landing checks. Besides that, your pilot needs to do their own job so you can do yours. 1
